People have lawns of grass because hundreds of years ago, rich people would have empty fields so that they could say “look how much land I can waste. I’m so rich”

That affirmation is true. Most farm animals go to natural places with grass to eat it. That is also a great way to control how grown it is. Ofc, they dont go to lawns

I think I'd prefer a clover lawn over grass. bees like it, it doesnt grow super long so it wouldn't need cutting, it's actually edible to humans and animals + the blossoms can be used to make tea, and I think clover is pretty

a moss lawn would be an alternative and even in a clover lawn I'd want some moss because I love moss, but the moss would have to be in mostly shaded areas. so maybe an option would be the main lawn that gets hit by the sun would be clover and the edges which are usually in the shade would be moss?

In my grand parents farm whenever the Sheperd or the guy that lives on the other side of the road they bring their animals to mow the lawn

Get a clover lawn instead. Doesn’t grow nearly as high and doesn’t die in the heat so easily as normal grass.
