I always play Metroid Prime with the old school controles. The whole game was built around that control scheme.

I was played original MP1 on GC and it was not horrible. Metroid was designed especially for this controller but when I was playing game by emulator and mapped xbox pad it was little wird

This is how it was back in the days of 90’s and early 2000’s FPS. Tank controls were common, people that grew up on the older FPS controls are perfectly fine with it.

By the time CoD came around, dual aiming was the standard and tank controls were forgotten. I’m sure newer gen players wanting to play older games were in for a shock. But just like newer gen players can’t get used to tank controls, I’m sure older gen can’t get used to dual aiming controls.

They didn’t even give us keyboard and mouse support.

defeating meta ridley and metroid prime with OG controls was harder than any dark souls game

Okay, when I was trying to find out if the remaster had better controls I couldn't find anything saying that the GameCube controls were terrible. My dad had bought me the GameCube version when I was about 10 but I just never really played it, so I figured I'd finally play it since 4 is coming out. I played for like 10 minutes before I absolutely lost my mind over the controls

Personally I don’t even mind those controls even today
I still play how it was on the gamecube even on prime remastered
I just wish you could actually play with a GameCube controller without losing out on a button or not have rumble
It should’ve been worked on just like how 3D All Stars had a patch to where you could use the GameCube controller just like how it was intended in the original game

Same here, I thought my system was glitching...nope! recently played and was wondering how I did it back then. Used to dual control sticks on modern games. But I did it back then for my first few playthroughs.

While I love true dual-sticks and enjoy playing prime using them in the remastered version, I actually never had a problem with classic controls, and still don't. The game isn't really about twitch, it has a lock-on, and really it was always meant to be more like a Zelda game from 1st person, z-target and all. I also got crazy good at using the triggers to switch to aim mode, even while moving and jumping.

I don’t see how that’s so bad. But then again I love Hexen for the N64 so what do I know

This is why before Prime 4 comes out I am really hoping we get Prime 2 and 3 remastered as well. I really want to play those again but I just can't go back to the old controls for 2 after playing Prime remastered

I don’t see a problem with MP1 controls, it just worked for its time . Kind of like both versions of Resident Evil 4. Some people don’t like the stiffness of the OG RE4 mechanics but a lot of people still appreciate it and even prefer it over the new mechanics. Guess it just comes down to preference.

I'm there with you, FPS games back in the early 2000s control much differently from today

Game was made with lock on in mind. The scenario purposed would be solved by locked on. This game really isn’t about aiming. Try playing with dual stick controls with no lock on. It’s not the greatest either. It’s literally just preference. The option of a choice just goes to show that the game is built on the lock on mechanic and not really how you aim as there are no fewer than three different versions of this game that have different aiming controls all of which play great.

Quem complica um game é o player não o jogo ou controlador.

Talk about a terribly moronic take. Why is YouTube recommending me such Ls lately. Next I'm gonna see someone dissing the OG RE4 on GameCube, one of the tightest and best controlled games ever; then again, people were praising Capcom for complete destroying the gameplay feel in their subpar remake, so I wouldn't be surprised.

typical noob player, who only knows how to play with dual sticks. Noob who can't play the games from that era for what they are
