Why is Zille speaking on behalf of government and the minister of Basic Education? Does Siviwe Gwarube report to Helen or the President?

Give the blind what they want (ANC) and let's see how far the bill goes. Everything that the ANC government introduces turns to disaster anyway. We just don't have the manpower to pull this bill through.

My worry is, children can't read, write nor count. Youth of 1976 what they fought for was nothing compared to what ANC brought, ANC het net gamors gemaak. They, ANC, tested their gamors with Mk party members of Parliament. Their first crops of 30% pass. Revisit any clips of Parliament, disaster.

The BELA Act exposes a fundamental flaw: ambition without infrastructure. Signing it into law before norms and standards are finalized is putting the cart before the horse. We risk chaos in schools—Grade R readiness, language access, and contentious clauses demand groundwork first. The DA stands for governance that works, not governance for show. I think we should secure the process before celebrating the policy.

BELA must get challenged in court. There are multiple areas that need proper scrutiny. If it gets through the courts, then we can be satisfied with it. Currently, there are more questions than answers, hence civil society must take the bill to the courts. The ANC would rather destroy functional schools, than fix what is disfunctional. No one is talking about the massive educational budget cuts, this alone will have significant implications on education quality, access, and outcomes. BELA is more likely to lower educational standards, than solve issues around access and potential discrimination. Anything that seeks to centralise control of education in SA should be met with serious opposition.

The Bela bill needs to go to court. It’s a bad piece of legislation because all these wretched political parties cannot explain how it is to be done where the money is to get it all in place. You can’t horse trade languages as Zille describes it is not even possible

The DA minister can be replaced at the president prerogative if she blocks the BELA ACT, so let’s give her a chance.

So basically Helen Zilee is saying the most important part where pupils can attend where they want will not be ready, so the discrimination continues !!

If the minister tries to delay the implementation, she will have to be sacked. The language that should be promoted is not Afrikaans only.

Basically Ramaphosa lied again, with a straight face.
At this point we're riding a bus with 2 drivers fighting for a stirring wheel.

The DA's Minister of Education will ensure that the Norms and Standards in the Regulations conform with SA's Constitution!!

She will therefore not allow any discrimination against Afrikaans schools and the Afrikasns language to take place, as this would be unconstitutional !!

This is what Helen Zille means by a win- win situation.
