I felt you really missed out a very crucial key piece of information in what really made Mazinger Z so iconic for all forms of Super Robots and Mecha. The same can be said with your other videos of the history of anime. You keep saying vague information on how they're iconic and influential but you don't mention how or why they left an impact in history or at least not as informative compared to certain series. I admit I haven't seen much of these series but I would've preferred a more in depth look with each individual show.

So my real first anime as a kid was Heidi... awesome!
Really looking forward to the next one for I'm pretty sure obvious reasons.

No Rose of Versailles, telling how influential it was with its strong female protagonist and epic story telling? Shame, to me, that show is probably the best anime to have ever come out of the 70s.

just watched Lupin the III: The Castle of Cagliostro a few hours ago... nice movie, great atmosphere, very enjoyable... although Fujiko in the camouflage overall sometimes looked way too tomboyish to register as Fujiko Mine.

And MSG... woot!!!!

You have very odd way to pronounce the name Heidi ;)
It's "Heidi" like in "Heidi Klum"

I lived in Japan and studied Judo and other martial arts. (1968-1970) before transferring back the the U.S. There was a Judo related cartoon(Not Judo boy) of 1968-1970 but may have been produced earlier. It was about a Judo student in uniformed school and he fought duels against bad guys and one may have had an Eye patch over his eye. There was some severe training and using a tree to practice your pulling techniques. There may have also been some gory fight scenes.(Bloody) like Samurai cartoons. A Cartoon character. Not as accurate as "Judo Boy"..Lot's of Japanese uniformed high school boys in Judo. Can you remember or do you know of such a cartoon character? Arigato !

how can you miss out "GATCHAMAN" which was made in the early 70s in japan, then the series was rebooted in the early 80s in the US and Europe? in the very censored and sanitized form of "battle of the planets/g-force",   this show and STARFLEET/X-BOMBER were the first Japanese/anime shows I saw as a very young child..:)

You missed rose of versailles, and akage no anne. Anne not so much, but the Rose of Versailles is kind of a big deal. You should give it a nod in your next video, or re-upload this one with it edited in. Either way I'm learning some new things from these videos and your doing good work.

How did Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata jumped into the industry in Heidi if they had already made the highly successful Lupin III together?
