Coronavirus: Ontario's top doctor says strict measures needed at border, airport | FULL

Ontario chief medical officer of health Dr. David Williams along with Dr. Dirk Huyer provided a COVID-19 update on Thursday as a stay-at-home emergency order came into effect across the province at 12:01 am.

Dr. Williams said one of the reasons the stay-at-home came into effect was to stop the U.K. variant from becoming the dominant strain of COVID-19 in the province.

Williams also discussed a possible closure of Toronto's Pearson International Airport by cutting off road and transit access, remarking that the province has to have "very strict measures at our borders, especially at the airport."

Ontario is reporting 3,326 new cases of the coronavirus on Thursday, bringing the provincial total to 228,310.

Thursday’s case count is higher than Wednesday’s which saw 2,961 new infections. On Tuesday, 2,903 new cases were recorded.

Seriously, when asked why they thought Haltons numbers are doing well over the last few days (last question), your answer is a whole bunch of words amounting to "we have no idea and aren't prepared to find out, good luck"

The government has had 10 months to figure out how to track but you haven't figured anything out. Pro tip, survay people based on the first 3 digital of there area code, ask them what they do and how much contact their household makes with others. Compile anonymous data based on region, look for trends, offer ideas. Stop saying figure it out for yourselves, when you really mean, we don't want to offer suggestions that might hurt us politically later if it turns out our ideas were incorrect.

I came to Canada when I was 16. I want this country and its people to succeed and thrive. I'm not understanding why people think the government would lie about something that is affecting them and major industries so harshly and negatively? Some of the rules are silly and some hypocrisy and incompetence is apparent but I think the general public is far removed from the reality of the hospitals, and I would like to hear directly from the healthcare staff. This would all be over in 1 month if everyone followed the health guidelines but they need to stop flights as well.
