Russian President Vladimir Putin recognised two breakaway regions in eastern Ukraine as independent entities on Monday, upping the ante in a crisis the West fears could unleash a major war.

This is Ukraines fault they had 8 years to implement the Minsk deal they agreed to but refused.

Putin did the right thing. The Ukrainians did not want to implement the 2015 Minsk accord they actually agreed to. It has been 7 years of Ukraine stonewalling. Time for those people in Donbass to create their own future now. Best wishes.

That's wonderful, I think America will not have an issue with this, because when they recognized Jerusalem as the Israelis capital, the world was left in a shock, at least for Russia is understandable due to history with Ukraine

The creepiest part of this is for Putin to say "Ukraine as a country doesn't exist." Adolf Hitler said the same thing about Poland. Those are the words of a megalomaniacal tyrant to say such a thing about an independent, sovereign, European country. That is dangerous to its core and tells you what his state of mind is like. That is not a rational European leader talking in 2022, but a Czar, Kaiser, Emperor talking in 1722.

All this has already been seen 23 years ago in Serbia, with the
difference that a Nato military invasion of a sovereign state was
carried out and an occupied part of it, and after that the occupied part
was recognized as an independent state by the same Nato occupiers.The
only difference is that Serbia will never recognize the independence of
Kosovo and Metohija, and if a politician from Serbia dares to do so, he
would be hanged within 24 hours.
