I'm a NZ based kiwi but enjoy viewing NZ towns through your lens. Based at the Mt you're so central. If you haven't already, I also recommend Waihi Beach and Bowentown.
Another local treasure is the McLaren Falls park which has a couple of Waterfalls, one with and a short walk surrounded by glow worms at night.

Should check out coromandel and do the round loop id recommend going over kopu to pauanui tairua and whitianga around to coromandel town and back to thames even whangamata heading i small surf kinda town on the way to coro

This video was so awesome. So many memories for me. I've stayed at both Whakatane and Ohope Beach more times than I can remember. I used to stay with friends at Ohope and sometimes had the house to myself for a few days. There's a lookout on the Whakatane - Ohope road. The view is excellent.
