Beat It Solo - Van Halen/Michael Jackson guitar cover (no whammy bar) #shorts

RIP to King Edward... pretty much my reason for being a musician. Ed has been a huge inspiration to me. May his music and guitar work live on and inspire countless others!

When Michael Jackson's song "Beat It" was released it was pretty much my first exposure to Eddie Van Halen, until Van Halen's 1984 album came out, then I was an Eddie addict. Even though Ed's "Beat It" solo was hugely iconic and a big boost for the band, I personally had never learned his guitar solo to he tune until pretty recently, and decided to try it without my Washburn's vibrato bar being currently usable... So that was a fun and somewhat challenging adaptation.
The rhythm backing track I'm playing over was put together by me as well.

Fun fact: this solo was done in two takes but Quincy Jones decided to keep the first one. After Eddie had actually arranged the composition structure he thought Michael would have disagreed. Truth be told Michael liked the way he arranged it. And that's the version we all know today. Great shreddage my dude!
