David Adams’ journey takes us into a Sudan we rarely see. On the flat waters of the Nile, he hears the creaking of the rigging catching the wind as river-travelers have for thousands of years. While the battlements of ancient fortresses standing on shore are occasional reminders of the region’s violent past, he is able to contemplate that era from the relative peace of the wide river.

Odyssey is your journey into the world of Ancient History; from the dawn of Mesopotamia to the fall of Rome. We'll be bringing you only the best documentaries that journey into the mysteries and ruins of worlds long lost.

I'm just finishing the first one. I don't think I've ever felt more like "I'm there too" as I did with this.
Thank you to the uploader, and if David and the crew ever see this, you've done something extraordinary. Thank you.
I'm also really impressed by and grateful to the people of the various regions who were so welcoming and hospitable. I'm very thankful they chose to share their history n culture with us in this way.
Imo this is one of the things the world wide web was designed for-
to share cultures, customs and awareness of all nations.

I don’t think I have ever seen a program hosted by Mr.Adams. He is FANTASTIC! Down to earth, clear, fun, interesting, educational, relevant, and the type of gentleman you feel could be an instant friend! Exceptional program in every way!

Wow, it's not just another WWII documentary, actually covering something I haven't heard of a million times. Super interesting.

David is the perfect traveler. He naturally unassuming, understanding, engaging and respectful of the various cultures he encounters. He's polite and courteous with the people he interacts with and he generous with his time and money without being arrogant or condescending. Each of these traits should be practiced by all of us, everyday, with everyone we meet.

David Adams' documentaries makes me realize how limited and narrow the teachings were in my public schools. Excellent coverage.

Absolutely stonkingly wonderful! Makes me wish I could see the Sahara once more, but from the Libyan side this time. I'm older and would appreciate it even more. Putting a trip like this together must have been time consuming, expensive and a nightmare at times. Am sharing it with all interested friends.

I had the privilege of going to Libya in 2007. David Adams took me back. This documentary shows this beautiful country just as I remember it.

Tripoli was one of the strangest cities I've ever visited. The streets were almost empty. There was no traffic. The old part of the city was like stepping back in time. They forge copper in the same way their ancestors did. The people we met were kind, very cultured, and had a very strong sense of family. Mu'ammar Al-Qadhdhāfī was EVERYWHERE. Whenever we asked people about politics, we could feel the tension in the air. They would all go into a strange level of lauding Qadhdhāfī... we definitely got the sensation that for our driver, or our guide... there was a clear sense there was always someone listening.

Leptis Magna is by far the best Roman city I've ever seen, there also are a couple of wonderfully preserved villas not far from it. -This, coming from a person who has lived in Italy and traveled extensively throughout the former Roman empire. In my view, Leptis Magna is better than Rome and Pompeii put together; and the Sahara is magical. This is a very illuminating trip. I highly recommend it!

Wonderful documentary! The legistics must have been a nightmare! I can't imagine all the haggling, money paid, restrictions, changes etc that took place to make this happen! They did an amazing job of making it look smooth! Loved the cinematography and amazing captures of not just incredible landscapes, but all the beautiful and unique people living in those parts of the world!!! David was an engaging and enjoyable host!! Incredibly well done folks!!!

I have watched this amazing documentary video patiently for two hours. I love all the old historical aspects of these countries that are so untold up to these days. The places that are still undiscovered by the tourists. Thank you, David Adams, for opening our eyes to these places that were still close to tourists.

What a great compilation of David Adams' travels. Thank you for sharing. It was the last one that struck me the most. If the film crew didn't honor the letter of the law, they did try to honor the spirit of it. That builds bridges. Imagine growing up in such a long history of war and how deeply anchored into the collective consciousness of the society it is. It will take generations of peace to really shift the cultural mindset. Even if one wants peace, it takes practice to learn how to live with it. From where I'm sitting, this is true not only on a world scale, but also the individual experience.

Documentaries like this should be shown in every school, it should be a required film, most people here in the States and a lot of other countries have No clue what really goes on and how people have to live. A very well-done Documentary. Thank you.

This was the first time I've watched any of David Adams' travels. Simply incredible!!! I might never get to visit them in real life but through David Adams' and his crew I have been able to catch a wonderful glimpse of the history and beauty of parts of the world that I've only dreamt of seeing.

The libyan part was sad, Tripoli was such a vibrant city before the civil war. Can't imagine it looks anything like this.

Wow, just finished watching this. I am so amazed at what David Adams was able to do. I especially love the documentary about the Nubians, the Afghanistan documentary made me sad because of what war has done to a people that just want to live in peace. Such interesting documentaries. I wish I could travel like that. Please keep up the good work it is definitely needed. History is so vital to mans existence. Be blessed and stay safe. ( I’m not sure how long ago this was done but still I would love to see more).
