I have a whole flock of them in my back yard this year. They are utterly bold and fearless birds.

I've heard these imitate a hawk, to keep other birds away from the bird feeder, they really like sunflower seed's, and I've heard them imitate a cat. I believe they are very intelligent bird's.

Stellars jays would make terrifying dinosaurs imagine being chased and all you hear is the “shuck-shuck” call

I was on vacation in Idyllwild a while ago and kept waking up hearing them, which was kinda nice. Each time I saw one I'd end up finding a feather too, so that's how I was able to identify them. Still have the feathers and I'm very happy I got to see them

Even if you don't know that this is them, anyone who lives in the rural Pacific Northwest is intimately familiar with all of these sounds.

Just saw one of these in Pine Valley, Utah on a camping trip. Wasn’t sure what they were. He nabbed one of our Cheetos off of our picnic table. 😂. Thank you for the video. 👍🏽

I was camping in glacier park(british columbia) and one of these birds hung out in my campground. It was beautiful and quite curious, but when i went to bed it wouldn't stop cawing at me. Imagine this noise for 4 plus hours right above your tent. Even my ear plugs didn't fully block it out.

I have these birds at my house. They are one of my favorites. I feed them feed corn that was softened in boiled water. They squawk at me for more when they run out.

These Jays think they rule the forest up here in the Santa Cruz Mountains, but they are no match for the acorn woodpeckers at my feeders and water bath. I posted a great video of a Steller's jay and Scrub jay meeting up at my water bowl on a 100+ day. It's one of the best video captures I've made. I get all my bird seed from Walmart, the best

They wait for me to fill feeders every morning and once they see me out and about they call out to let their pals know. A dozen or so quickly show up. I feed them (and chipmunks) sunflower seeds & whole peanuts. It gets a bit pricey in winter but worth every penny to me.

Always hoping to here the almost synthesizer "chick-woo" that is completely alien. I know it's not rare because every stellar jay in santacruz makes that sound. But I just don't see any record on yourube.

Such a cool bird. I think they are the bird that makes a call me think that Donald Duck has roosted in the trees behind my house.

I use this video to attract nearby Steller Jays to get peanuts from me, if they are brave enough. I have done that successfully at Stern Grove in SF, the chinese cemetery in SSF, along with up in Marin's San Geronimo Valley.

Bent's Life Histories said that there are like five races/subspecies from north (BC) to south (California).
