I paid off almost $21, 000 in 2 years, 4 months, on a low-ish income, using the snowball method. I went to a "bare bones budget", picked up an extra job (only 6 hours a week but it helped), did surveys online for extra money, sold items on FB Marketplace, walked to work, etc. Watching your videos didn't hurt either!! 🙂 I kept the momentum going and paid off my 6-year car loan in 2 years and am on the fast track to paying off my house. Is it easy? NO. Is it fun? Only sometimes. Is it worth it? YES.

I had a "flurry" this week. I had saved for a car repair that ended up not being needed so I was able to pay my Mint plan for the year and clear up two small medical bills. I can't imagine ever going back to a large phone company again!

I’ve used your frugal money saving tips and I have cut my household expenses down to $475.00 a month. And I’m going to cut it even lower. I’m switching my cell phone service to mint mobile.I’m currently with a higher price company.

Acknowledging the "so that" is powerful: When I had a nightmare apartment neighbour, I kept picturing her moving out. I played the movie in my head of her friends actually moving her furniture. I closed my eyes and felt the good vibes I'd feel when she was gone. But nothing changed... Suddenly I realised that I wasn't focusing on WHY I wanted her to move out. Did I want her to move so pitbull breeders could move in? Teens in a live band? NO! I wanted her to move out so I'd have quiet, polite neighbours.

Boom. She moved out and a nice, friendly woman replaced her.

Our subdivision has an annual garage sale and sometimes we use that money to make inexpensive upgrades for our home that we don’t want to use our regular income on. We’ve used it for paint, cabinet hardware, light fixtures, window treatments, bedding, towels, and area rugs. We were able to freshen up our home without feeling guilty about spending the money.

We are going through things that we truly no longer need, and listing those items on eBay. We actually funded a trip by doing this. This year the goal is to build up savings.

Listening to this as a debt free retiree with retirement savings, it occurs to me that I could use your shared "snowball" method to increase the savings I set aside for irregular but expected expenses, for a travel budget, etc.

The biggest hurdle to retirement in California is health insurance
kindly go over how you budgeted for health care post retirement

I am making two car notes which one payment goes to my principal so W can pay my car off in two years instead of four. Then I will start making extra payments towards my mortgage. Wish me luck.

Hi hope and Larry. I’m a somewhat newer subscriber. I have a super weird question. What or how to store cucumbers. Cucumbers are the bane of my existence. My husband and I have reduced our household to almost no food waste but I can’t conquer the cucumber. We reduced the amount we buy but we love them but can’t eat them fast enough. How do you store them maybe you know something I don’t!

I have a question and would love to hear your thoughts on this. We are thinking my husband might lose his job this year. We currently do not have any debt and we have funds to cover us for six months or more should this occur. Here's the fun part-my husband thinks he should spend money and get everything he wants/needs now while we have the money and I think we should start tightening our belts. What do you think?

Just made 11% return by paying off our 1 credit card to avoid paying 11.1% interest.
Just in time for my washer to start spewing oil from the gear box underneath it.
I just got the appliance care repair/shipping/ part estimate of $354.00 total.
I’m thinking it’s probably not worth putting that much money into a 2014 model washer.
What would you do? 8:00
