Yes and no. Many savvy at-home patients graduated from using cheap dermarollers to using the latest pens with sterile needles, etc. And sure, while it's prob not safe to go deep at home, patients can do nano-needling at home for instance, quite safely and with nice gradual results because they can afford to do it regularly by themselves. And along the same lines, there are many poorly trained aesthetic professionals who'll perform unsafe in-office procedures, like go deep with micro needling + RF resulting in facial volume loss. This isn't you Doc, but we all know that this can and does happen. So in-office can be tricky as well.

The microscopic results are also very different! Rollers create triangle pockets and tend to result to more damage than necessary. So unless your very specific skin condition is the perfect candidate for the same type of injuries rollers provide, you can be doing way more harm to your skin long-term.

Ooh- radio frequency and Morpheus etc are getting some heat right now, pun intended, of reducing subcutaneous fat and making people look older. Microneedling is one of the few things to do at home that actually works to reverse signs of aging- I use an electric stamping pen. Let’s just say First pregnancy, got rid of stretch marks that were forming. Didn’t use in my second pregnancy because I was just too lazy, and I have stretch marks.

Don’t worry y’all, dermarollers work great. Don’t overuse and be careful when you do use them, and always use your moisturizer when you do. She just needs to keep up the illusion that in office care is ALWAYS superior or she’ll be out of a job. At home stuff works great
