Breeding mares and raising foals can be a very rewarding experience and horse owners should educate themselves as much as possible prior to entering into a breeding program. Mare owners get tips on how to best prepare their mares for breeding to hopefully minimize the costs involved and get them settled as quickly as possible. Dr. Anderson provides information on broodmares nutritional needs, recommendations on general health care, how mares cycle and knowing when she is ready to be bred. She also discusses the various methods that are used in today's industry to breed mares including the use of artificial insemination with cooled and frozen semen. This presentation helps equip horse owners to have their mares ready for the breeding season.
