What i don't get is what if the wind is not 90° with the ship, , it doesn't go straight does it ? And if the wind is parallel to the ship is it useless? I studied the concept but can't get my head around it

Would it be feasible to fit an alternator to the base to then use the kinetic energy created by the spinning rotor as electricity, further increasing the effectiveness?
