16:50 The creator said that the silence after the two bombs was a sort of homage to the dead because it felt just wrong to continue so fast over this fact

I forget the guy's name, but there was a person who lived in Hiroshima, survived the first bomb, had to cycle three days to his place of work, only to be caught in the second blast as well, because he worked in Nagasaki.

In regards to the Yakuza thing at the beginning. It's an odd thing to think about because the Yakuza are a notoriously violent collection of gangs but on the other hand, the reason people join these gangs is because of their material conditions. Those in worse off economic conditions were far more likely to join the Yakuza and because it was made up of a lot of people who were from those situations, you'd see many Yakuza engage in humanitarian projects like disaster relief in the face of Tsunamis and Earthquakes. To make things more interesting, the Yakuza (Allegedly) often had much quicker response times than actual emergency services. It's interesting to think about that juxtaposition of violent gangs to humanitarian forces. But then again, I imagine the Yakuza's goal (Like many forms of organized crime like the Mafia) wasn't to harm the general public but to resist authority and offer a place for societal rejects.

I just came to this video after watching your reaction to "the history of the world, i guess" and you're accent is so nice! Also, you've got a lot of takes that are just so refreshing, feel very relaxed and comfortable watching your vids, new sub acquired.

2:00 yeah, I’ve heard some odd stories about the Yakuza. Most of them boil down to them being a very violent organised crime gang that occasionally did some arguably good things for the communities they were in. (Usually because although they were focused on crime, they at least made sure the local crime followed strict rules)

In fact, modern Chinese is greatly influenced by Japanese.
They directly took the Japanese translated terms to describe the western concepts.

These reactions have been great. Its been so long since I've seen the OG videos it was great rediscovering them.

I've got a suggestion for you that might be relevant to your interests, might even be worth reaction vids. Simon Clark's 'Which Planets in Warhammer 40K Could Really Exist' duology of vids. They're from the perspective of not only a 40K fan but also a climatologist\physicist perspective.

Japan is that dude who's a complete and utter asshole for years and years until he gets his ass beat and humbled. After that he's the nicest, most helpful bro in the world and when you're like "hey remember like a year ago when you tried to-" "Naaaah cmon bro thats ancient history! Lets go watch some anime!"

i mean, in regards to chinese characters being in other east asian languages, definitely similar to how so much of europe either uses a latin or greek-based alphabet.

14:20 Japan was the first country in the world to present a proposal for the elimination of racial discrimination at the Paris Peace Conference. If this had been enforced, the Nanking Massacre and WW2 would not have happened and the world would be a different place today.

and when the proposal was rejected, it was the blacks in America who were most upset.
Do u know Red Summer???

18:54 funnily enough... the samurai honor code did not exist back during the sengoku jidai and other times associated with the Samurai. Indeed, they kept betraying each other. It was Tokugawa Ieyasu that forced it down the throats of everyone how they should behave during his government. So, yeah... the honor code we know of was developed during the transition from samurai being mostly warriors to samurai being mostly burocrats.

During the history of the entire world, I guess video when he mentions the "yamato kingdom" for Japan, there's an "intermission", this is that intermission.

Your personal observations and connection building with relevant information is what makes your react video worth watching rather than just watching the original again. Never put viewing of the original as more important than your new content.
