Walked into the San Francisco GuitarCenter looking for my first Strat. I'd planned on getting a Lake Placid Blue, but saw this thing and dug it. The paint job on this Strat is great looking with a gradual Candy Red burst that darkens along the edges while showing through to the wood grain.

I think this is discontinued now, but some locations still have them. Spec wise, it's a standard MIM HSS. Swapped out the tuners for the locking versions and it's all set.

I just got the updated version of this. 22 frets with 2 screw tremelo. Very nice guitar and finish.

I've always wanted a Fender Strat since the early 80s when I was a teenager. Fast-forward to summer 2016 and I finally bought this one lol. Couldn't afford an American Strat, so I "settled" for this FSR HSS Strat, thinking that I'd trade it in after a few years when I could finally afford an American Strat. WRONG!!! This guitar is really good and I don't feel like I settled for a lower-quality guitar at all. It's three yrs later and I still have my candy red burst Mexican Strat, and IMO the quality is SOOOO good that I haven't felt the urge or need to "upgrade" to an American Strat. I almost always replace stock pickups with Seymour Duncan or Dimarzio pickups, but IMO the stock pickups of this Strat are actually pretty good, so I haven't replaced them.

Although I'm a bigger fan of Ibanez guitars (I own 6), and also have a Gibson Les Paul, I have to admit that this Fender Strat is actually easier and more comfortable for me to play than my other guitars. This guitar is a keeper and I intend to keep it even when I finally buy an American Strat (with 3 single coils). Looking to eventually buy a Heavy Metal Strat too.

Snagged this one the other day while it was on sale. With this virus keeping us all in limbo, I’ve been getting back into playing and am now better than ever. I played one of these a few months ago at the local GC and they had one in stock but by the time I could go buy it, everything “nonessential” had been shut down. Ordered online instead and it’s arriving today. Can’t wait!
