LITTLE ROUND TOP REOPENING

First, thank you to The Gettysburg Foundation and GNMP for allowing AG to cover the event.

Second, it was very windy and I was using a monopod, so, sorry for the occasional shakiness.

Third, Little Round Top is FINALLY OPEN and you can stop asking me if I think it will be open by the time of your vacation here AND it looks nice. Also, I didn't twist my ankle ONCE because of the new pathways, which is a great improvement from the way it was.

Was just up there a couple hours ago - my first visit to Gettysburg since 2000, and what would you know, Little Round Top opened in literally the same hour that I arrived! Took it as a sign that I should definitely get up there; got some great pictures I think.

What they showed looked great. I've been there to Gettysburg 33 times from 12 years old in 1986 to filming Gettysburg as a background artist in September of 1992 til my last visit with my wife and kids in 2019. Evey visit winds up on Little Round Top, taking in the breathtaking views and soaking in the history of what those men did from both armies to win the battle. I can't wait for the new experience of seeing that part of the battlefield of Gettysburg soon!

Respectfully… this part of the battlefield is a sacred place. It has been disrespected by all these museum type of "improvements". Devils Den, the Alamo, Little Big Horn, were all places where one felt goosebumps. I’ll be content with the memories my visits to Little Round Top, because I’ll never go again.

Thanks for covering this and presenting it to us Looks all fancied up now. My first recollection of LRT was visitung the battlefield when I was age six. That was in the 1960s. My fave area then and through the years since. Will be interesting to see how LRT feels now when visting this September.

Glad that it has reopened. It really needed the rehabilitation. I worked at the Park as a Park Ranger for two seasons in the mid 70's and even then, it needed attention.
