Let's Build A German MONSTER Tank (E-100, Amusing Hobby 1/35)

My friends, it was the year 2016 when I built one of my dream kits, the giant Maus Super Heavy Tank, and to this day it remains one of my favorite models. I was so happy when I got my hands on the old Dragon kit and could finally build it. Before that, the best I could get find was the smaller cousin - the E-100. I built one from Trumpeter when I was around 16, and then tried (and failed) to build another one from Dragon with the classic Maus turret. So I thought it was the perfect time to kick off the year with a redemption build!

Disclaimer: I have a good relationship with a handful of modelling brands and stores, namely VMS, Michigan Toy Soldier Company, and AK-Interactive. As such, I'm happy to use their products/services, and show them in my work. In return, they support my efforts in this hobby, although my hands are not bound nor am I obligated to push one brand or the other. This was one of the founding ideas of the channel and I will always stand by this.

Last time I was that early to anything, Panzer IV was still considered a heavy tank

Fun fact: the Maus turret would’ve been too heavy for the E100 hull, the more triangular Krupp turret was the actual one intended. The confusion comes from the British getting German Engineers to redraw the tank from burned documents which had included the Maus turret as a placeholder.

Only Night shift could make the E-100 look like a feasible design :)

The E-100 looks so nice in this configuration in my opinion. Something about those massive slabs of smooth, curving and sloping armour.

Hello Night Shift!
A few days ago the Youtube algorithm suggested me your E100 video. Seeing you building models is not only satisfying, but also inspired me to pick up this hobby again after 12 years. Got myself a Panzer 1 Ausf. B from Academy for starters and am taking my time building it. Model building is an extremely rewarding hobby, so thank you for bringing me back to it.

Veeery cool model. Some interesting fact about the E100: this turret was never supposed to be mounted on the E100 hull as it was too heavy. If you want to get an impression of the planned turret proposed by Krupp, have a look at the E100-model in WoT, it comes quite close to the real design.
Historycal freedom aside, another STUNNINGLY precise model-building video to enjoy as a relaxer just before my next exam. Love it!

You Are A Detail Genius....my wife now watches you with me. She doesn't care for modeling but in her craftwork just loves detail. I showed her your work and now she watches to see what she can pick up from Uncle Night Shift. Your talent is undeniable as well. Just wanted to say thank you.

Recently i've been making soviet howitzer and i was so overwhelmed with construction stage, even though there are not many surface features and places to rework it felt like a torture. And now Uncle Martin making classic night shift build - huge heavy modified tank. That truly inspires, thats the power of creator - to inspire people in their hobby. Thank you Martin for your hard work during all those years!❤

0:35 I have a feeling that the bloopers at the end of the video are going to be fun to watch.

Short insight to your vertical weld bead @7:00 - it should have the texture mirrored since you would weld it upwards and it would form a convex shape that points to the ground.

That tank looks massive, looking forward to watching you paint and weather it

Love it! I super detailed the dragon kit 15-20 years ago. I remember it being so much work but it was so much fun and was one of the few tanks I fully finished painting and weathering. Sadly i got rid off all my old models but that gives me reason to pick the hobby back up again

Uncle Night Shift back in his element...weld beads, flame-cuts and steel texture 🤩 I revisit these tutorials every time I begin a new model, just to remind myself how to do it right 😎🤓
