Driving Test Examiners to Go on Strike

Hello, Peter Malone, here again with information about the driving test examiners asking to have a ballot to act.

I was sent an email which I will put in this description explaining some examiners may go on strike, read it yourself.

The Public and Commercial Services Union announced yesterday (27 August 2021) that it is balloting its members on possible industrial action.

We know that you and your pupils may have concerns on how this will affect driving tests.

We are working hard with PCS to resolve their concerns and we will update you again if there is going to be any impact on our services.

Your guess is as good as mine, I will keep you updated to let you know if it is good news or shocking news.

There is a massive issue i.e the backlog since January-May lockdown of tests, that needs to be resolved, if they go on strike, it might force the government to take a more direct approach to resolving it. There was a petition last year to get instructors to record tests with learners and be able to pass them off if the learner met required highway code standards - which was rejected. They need to come up with something, current wait time is about 4/5 months, which is absolutely ridiculous and they've folded on HGV licences, making the test quicker and involves less maneouvres...i'm hoping something can be done soon.

I got 2 goes at my test, 6 months apart and my theory expired - the DVSA is failing new drivers dramatically. I think they're collecting money off people.
