Domino Killer or Dud?

At that price point I don’t think so. Cheaper options with dowels that are as good. I wouldn’t be surprised if Kreg comes out with a cheaper redesign. That might make sense.

for the professional, no. for the diyer or hobbyist maybe but there are so many similar alternatives. The fact that Kreg makes tenons is a leg up in their favor compared to the alternatives.

That’s nifty, but you could knock in a couple Lamello (!) brand #20 biscuits centered at 6mm & 13mm and have the joint glued & clamped in about 2 minutes. No jigs needed.

Swiss-made Lamello plate joiner is the one you want, for parts to plane in +/- .003”. Mine is 35 years old and still does that after many 1, 000s of plates.

If we're being honest, how many of us need dominoes for anything other 90 or 45 degrees? If that's true just go with dowels. Jessem makes a great set of jigs for 1/4-3/8-1/2 sized dowels.

The domino is the most overhyped tool on the market, but this is definitely not a domino killer.

I’ve never used a domino and really have never understood the hype. Forgive my ignorance. I have and use a biscuit joiner fairly often. What makes the domino so much better?

Never going to kill domino tools but if it's under 200 bux then it will be a good option for those of us looking for better than dowels without the money for a thousand dollar machine.

I have a dowel jug and the x-jig. I have no need for Domino's unless we're getting pizza or playing Mexican train
