I just turn 60 years old yesterday. My father got me out of bed, when I was six to witness Neil Armstrong take those first steps on the moon. I barely, but do, remember it. I really remember being grumpy and wanting to to go back to bed. Now, I don't have that much time left. Please do these things quickly. I want to see so much in the area of space exploration! I promise this time, I'll be smiling when man first steps on Mars.

Outstanding. It's about time we started making headway in space propulsion.

You don't often hear DARPA spoken in public. This is real.

Worth looking up the old NERVA nuclear rocket project, in the late '50's and '60's.
And let's have them teach Bill Nelson to say nuclear ... nu - cle - ar.

A very good idea, nuclear powered rockets to accelerate travel to the Moon and Mars is a must and a very good priority technology to develop

Awesome! This combined with starship will open the solar system.

This engine works and is proven. They tested something similar in the 70s.

They do this now because SpaceX Rockets is so Big and 10 times Cheaper than NASAs rockets to launch so this is the only way they can compete with SpaceX Rockets

Emily: What's all this talk about CRUDE spaceflights? That's terrible! Space transportation should be PRECISE!
Me: That's "crewed" spaceflights... not "crude".
Emily: Ohhh, that's different

So, astronomers worldwide are complaining about Musk's Starlink polluting the night sky, photon pollution. That's nothing compared to the radiation this thing will spread around our orbits, they will tell you it's just heat pollution, just like all those reactors. NIMBY remember ?
