This man is an old soul, he has this innate wisdom about him which fascinates me and million of others. He should write a book I would buy it!

I’m uniquely inspired by Maestro Vai. Just saw him live with the Beat tour. Amazing doesn’t come close to describing his genius.

This is what happened to me yesterday when I wrote and recorded a very short polyrhytmic piece. Notating it was very interesting. I asked a few people and everyone had a different notation answer. I was so into creating it that it was great Anyway once everything was over I sat back and my mind was saying 'all this effort for that little piece of music's blah, blah, blah. I'll be writing more Polyrhythm stuff for sure. Good bye ego. Ha ha.

I'm going to politely disagree! I'm a musician of many years myself and to boost my opinion that comes next, I'm not at all a successful musician. The premise that ones ego blocks one creative pursuit or passion is demonstrably untrue. The biggest obstacle to an aspiring musician or creative is the external. The rest of the world. Imagine combating your passionate pursuit of artistic expression in a world that asks you to join a company and pay your taxes? How do you achieve self sustaining status when your art is only encouraged by yourself? Answer me that. Where's my ego prohibiting my artistic progress when my ego is infact actively renting the rest of the world tellinge to shut the fuck up? I'm not saying I ought be successful. I'm not questioning the success of the super talented Steve Vai. I'm questioning the premise that the artistic ego is the obstacle to any potential artists success. We will always be our own worst critic but who are we to stop giving our contribution to art when the rest of our community tell us we ought swell database technology to out neighbours I stead of being self expresai g artists. Am I missing something g here? You are an artist too I say, and Vai believes you are an artist if you make as much as him it seems

Why does the ego come in and sabotage? What’s the evolutionary function of this?

Steve is a special guy.
But that’s a whole lot of horse shit.
He’s got way too much time on his hands.
