This is a recording of a 2-hour live webinar presented by Julie Basulto, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, to members of the Florida Mental Health Counselors Association on 8/23/19 in order to assist mental health professionals working with families of LGBTQ youth who experience adjustment issues related to their youth's coming out process.
Learning Objectives:
1. Learn about LGBTQ youth and the impact of disclosure of their sexual and/or gender identity as well as the consequences on the lack of emotional support from caregivers.
2. Explore benefits to providing support and acceptance to LGBTQ youth, including research evidence and how caregivers can assist in the youth’s coming out process.
3. Identify treatment approaches and resources to assist LGBTQ youth and their families.
