Last story: Op should not ever pay for that lawyer. If the BIL ends up convicted, people will start thinking about whether a baby GIRL is in good hands with a person who funded the defense of a pedo. Or with a family who thinks a 12-year-old is "equally responsible". And Op should never ever let that BIl near her child no matter when he gets out of jail - sounds like MIl will forgive him anyways and keep him in the family.
