How to Play Rise of the Empire in 7 minutes

Learn how to play Rise of the Empire (the expansion to Star Wars Rebellion) in just 7 minutes (there's a bit of silliness at the front and back)

Corrections:
6:05 - When you play the last combat card, you gain back all the cards in that discard pile except for the card you just played. (Thanks to Twhylight for spotting this one)

Combat is definitely improved in terms of player agency, although it remains fairly slow. Call me superstitious, but I almost hesitate maxing out on combat dice (13 in all). A very strong expansion for an already great game. Thank you for your review!

Hi Shea, did you release this expansion video to public YouTube? I found it very hard to find, when searching for SW Rebellion tutorials.

Could you remove a turn to the darkside captured leader?

So always 2 subversion no matter what deck you play with. Was unshure on that one

So they basically added combat mechanics from Forbidden Stars

Played Rebellion for the fourth time today. Was Rebels twice, got absolutely stomped both times. At first I thought the game was catastrophically overbalanced in favor of the Empire. Then was Empire twice, lost once decisively and lost the other in a nail-biter. Now I realize I apparently just suck. Of course, I am playing against my brother, who is good at games AND lucky with dice.

Expansion looks interesting.

So the lightsaber symbols do absolutely nothing for the active player? We thought they remembered how many blocks they got and removed them from the following roll by the defenders, making both simultaneous.

So in short... the combat is totally from Forbidden Stars.
I mean it is the same.
Btw it is a good system.

1:25 if you can randomly set up objective deck with two Death Star plans, does that included the base and rise cards in each of those decks?

Question related to setup with expansion: the Death Star under construction, is this replaced by the one in the build queue? Then allowing it to move as normal etc.?

Would you say that it's not worth it to play the game without the expansion refreshing combat then ?
Like, it was "actually that bad" ..?

Somewhat important rule notation: When you play your final card during combat and add the discard pile back to your deck, you leave the last card you played in the discard.

“return all cards from that card’s discard pile to his deck (except for the card he just resolved)”

The Death Star shows that it can carry 8 troops. Does that mean Move the Death Star just like I do Star destroyers and other space craft?

I found going second gave a HUGE advantage. Especially in blocking hits.

One question though, can you assign more hits than needed against a ship to possibly negate them blocking a hit?

Anyone who uses a "garbage pile of ships" is the kind of person I avoid at all costs

To streamline combat, we have 4 sets of the 13 dice (Rebel Ground, Rebel Space, Empire Ground, Empire Space) and changed Lightsaber symbols to be 2 Colored Hits instead of Heal.

Dice rolling is done simultaneously - speeds things up a lot, but love the rest of the new rules for the expansion as Cinematic Combat is just so great and feels a lot more exciting than base game combat. Also gives you more decisions, strategy and control with the decks!
