This is a very helpful video, but I find the first example, in the exact practice shown, a little misleading. At least in the way the animation is setup in the video, the ship squashes before bouncing back up and firing. In animation terms, this is proper as it adds that moment of "collection" before the release of energy, however it does mean there will be a delay between the player pressing the button, and the bullet firing out of the ship, which in my experience might completely negate the positives of having the animation in the first place given the simplicity of the game. It would make more sense game-play wise if the ship squashed from an immediate shot, then bounced back into position :)

That being said, this is a great video and the implementations you showcased were clearly very well done!

Thanks for this! Love your videos, your quick tutorials are super helpful for so many things.
Also just wanted to say for anyone wondering about the sound effect tools, there's also SFXIA on itch.io which I found very simple but made some nice sounds out of, as well as GMXR (2) and of course BFXR. There's lots more I'm sure, but those seem some of the best.
Also if you're on linux like me, just make it run through steam and force it to use proton for the simplest way of making it work
