This one is a contender for best historical film of 2016. The Founder is an amazing movie about the beginning of the McDonald's food chain. Seriously, more films should take ques from this.

8:10 I was right. They are currently disputing the copyright on this. Absolutely hilarious how cowardly Weinstein Group is, to go after a critique of a film that itself relies on fair-use. Well, they're probably too busy molesting women to actually watch what they are flagging.

Ray Kroc, who sold ice cream mixers to McDonald's, would roll in his grave if he saw the state of the ice cream machines at the Golden Arches today 😂

This movie is excellent. A lot better than I ever expected. And Michael Keaton is always a win That early version of Ronal McDonald reminded me of John Wayne Gacy.

My favorite thing about this movie is that Ray Kroc was in his 50's and broke before getting involved with the McDonalds bothers. Think what you want about Ray Kroc, but the most important thing to learn from the story is that its never too late to change your life.

'The Founder' is surprisingly an awesome Movie

I also admired the way they didn't pretend the Brothers original product was any better than the stuff they served under Kroc (other than a brief period when the drink apparently used inferior ingredients whilst looking no more undrinkable).

The most amazing part of this story was when he drove from St Louis
to LA, just to see the store that had ordered 4 ice cream milk shake mixers
at one time. I wonder if this really happened. And if the McDonald brothers
had ordered these machines more gradually, would he have ever heard about
this one fast food restaurant ?

So the two McDonalds Brothers where called 'Dick' and 'Mac'? They sure picked the right one to name the 'Big Mac' after.

Part of my feels that the character of Ronald McDonald was Kroc getting one final diss at the McDonald Brothers both calling them clowns 🤡 and ensuring that the only McDonald people would associate with the chain would be a clown

The movie was over before I realised it. It just sucked me in.

I worked in a McDonald's in England for three years and loved it. I
trained to become a floor manager but decided to go off to college
instead and didn't stay long enough to take the exam. Part of the exam
prep was the history of McDonald's. I later moved to Redlands, CA in
1992. I remember visiting the site of the original McDonald's and it was
emotional. I didn't know the full history before watching the film, but
I knew enough to know that I was at the place where McDonald's was
born. I loved this video, thank you for sharing.

One man's greatness is another man's shame. But, if we're going to consider Ray Croc a great man, then what is the true value of this greatness? What people fail to realize is this, greatness, wealth, notoriety, it's all fleeting. In the end, all you have is your deathbed and the measure of your humanity; or lack of it. There are no parades...no celebrations....nothing. There is only you and the reality of who you were while you lived. If you can transition with your head held high, great, if you can't, then that's just one more bag to pack before you leave. As far as the "founder" well, I'm sure Ray Croc had much baggage when he left.

I gotta believe that there was a handshake deal, but Kroc just never lived up it. Keep in mind that when Kroc divorced his first wife, he didn't immediately move on to the girl he ended up with in the movie. He married another woman after learning that she wasn't gonna divorce her husband because he didn't wanna be a bachelor. The moment he heard that she was considering a divorce, he immediately divorced his wife. A guy who's that much of a slimeball would definitely not live up to an unofficial deal

Vastly underrated film. Almost none of my friends have seen it, and a few said they avoided it because they thought it would be a thinly veiled infomercial.

I will also say this: this movie really makes me crave one of the original McDonalds burgers, as in the ones Dick and Mac would have made. So for me, it also served as a bit of a "what might have been" story.

I love how the movie let's people decide who they think ray or the brothers were right wrong or I different... It's fun to discuss with other people...

I never go to any fast food joints to eat, but I really liked this movie! Once more a brilliant performance by Keaton and good supports. Helped by such a good script and great dialogues. 8/10

The story of MCI and the breakup of AT&T should be told. Its a forgotten story. I think a lot of us can remember "long distance" and it costing upwards of 25 cents a MINUTE at nights and Bill McGowan started us down the road to discounted and now FREE long distance. I loved that company (MCI) when I worked there in the mid 80s. It was singularly one of the best learning experiences in my life. One of those that you appreciate more as you get older once you perceive the insights and motives of your then exec team and other managers. No matter what....it will always be a positive for me and many, many others who worked there.
