New crackdown on expired temp tags; 15 drivers pulled over so far

Ferguson police were pulling drivers over for expired temporary license tags in the town’s first-ever "Temp Tag Tuesday."

I see those guys, you figure they don't have insurance and some of the worst drivers I've seen had expired temp tags.

What would help is if everyone they pull over the city offer to pay for the sales tax as a one time thing since the new law is coming into affect then problem solved no more temp tags

As they should, people forget driving is a privilege. If you can’t afford the registration & insurance on car - you don’t need one!

I hope they understand that this happens mostly because people just don't have the extra money to pay the sales tax. Not because they want to break the law.

The loophole in this law it's going to come from the fact that in order to get your plates you need to show a paid personal property tax receipt. Unless you have a tax waiver from the city or the county they still won't issue your plates until you come up with the receipt. I've talked to several young people that just said they're not going to pay it. The dealer will roll your sales tax until the loan so it'll be part of your payment. You'll be able to get the title for the vehicle but you still won't get the plates. I'm not saying I agree with it, just trying to explain what other people have told me personally.
