I've had this router for at least 3 years and it works perfectly for me. I hear it works better than the new advanced Spectrum router.

I will pray for the technician that has to ever service your account

I have searched hours for an answer and you saved my ass. I had no issues with the old router and all of a sudden this new piece of trash won’t let me connect my roku and laptop of all things. I’ll definitely have to buy a different modem

You truly are a genius but if the router askey is not good you have the option of buying one yourself. Like a mesh system and that will solve your coverage issues but you are one of those guys that wants one piece to be the solution of everything. Specially when have big ass house

My speeds went up with the new spectrum upgrade, but the performance is shit. I lag out of games constantly and YouTube videos and Twitch streams buffer like im on my phone data.

Allen, I was working on another project when I remembered that I had yet...to log into the damned Askey wave 2 router ...that I also have. A couple of months ago, I had called Spectrum in a rather irritated state...much expressing on the vid...and I got transfered to some internet "specialist" and they could not tell why I could not log into the router either (192.168.1.1) we went through various exercises. I don't even remember where I left it...Bottom line I know you were upset in the vid. But it was refreshing to see that I was not alone in my frustration. I remember regularly decades ago logging into the router and configuring it to my needs. Anyways...you are right...time to get a personal router and send the one back home.

Any Advice on which Router you decided to buy in 2020? The why its worked for you or why not to buy?

I was having another unrelated problem and tech support advised i trade in my old router for specifically the Askey Router. Fast Forward as I am acquiring more smart devices I'm now experiencing same issues as many of you. Tech support now advises me to go in and trade in for another router. Of course they say Tech was full of __ and there is no other router that allows user control on bandwidth. for 2.4ghz & 5ghz. They said buy your own if you want control.

This router SUCKS (The one from Spectrum). You cannot make any setting change to it (except to change the SSID name and password). I am livid as well as the tech told me to change my older router but never told me how will that affect me with the new one. I don't get the point of issuing their customers this router at all. This is more so in today's constant Information Technology (IT) security vulnerabilities.

I want to be able to change settings on my router that I only rent! I also want their tech support to hold my hand and help me do it! And I will complain to them when I accidentally brick it and need them to send me a new one! Renting routers are for the elderly, go get a night hawk and fiddle away

If you are going to have a system that you need to set up your own personal options invest in a router nighthawk or google mesh system .

If you want to configure your own router and settings best buy your own router. They make it locked so customers that don't know what they're doing go in there and fuck shit up. Then the customer expects for the company to send someone out there for free. On average it cost $100.00 an hour to send a tech out. Gas, payroll, tools, vehicle. All that given into account. If your doing any real work you should always buy your own router. That way you own it, and your the only person making the changes. These people do 10-15 jobs a day work more in a week then you do in a month, they aren't there to be your tech support, whipping boy, or someone to treat as a piece of shit. They're human just like you only they have to deal with multiple people like you daily. It's your job to know what you need they aren't mind readers, they aren't there to design your network needs, they aren't a sales department. Yet 7 out of 10 jobs they do end up having to do all that, this doesn't even include the people that are too ignorant to operate their TV or realize that the batteries in the remote are dead. Not to mention, everyone expects them to do it for free because they spend a couple hundred bucks a month on services. So you call in you complain the person on the other end of the phone doesn't want to deal with your negativity so they give you a 10 dollar credit or a free month. Back in the 80's these guys used to be able to make a living off this job, some even made six figures. now they are lucky to bring home enough to pay rent with a single paycheck. But all you care about is blaming the tech because you made the stupid mistake of not buying your own router in the first place. It was people like you, and the lady that argued with me that you can't buy a router in the store why I left that job. You also sound like one of those customers that don't know what they're doing and will probably call in for a free service call because you fuck shit up. There is NO 4G on a router, there is 5G, and 2.4. Input needs to be on HDMI 1, and check your remote batteries!

You can go to your local spectrum store and get the older wave2 router. The one you are referencing is the scp wave2. The pre scp routers have the features you want. The reason behind the new one was not only security, opening ports and such can open you up to cyber attacks, but the new ones are compatible with their new pod mesh network.

As for parental controls, my daughter's have software based parental controls on their devices and it is a million times better than one on the router, as it covers them when not at home.

The way to tell the two apart is the older one, the one you want, has the networks split, and there isn't a QR code on the back. If they don't know what your talking about, ask for a business class router, as that is the one with the split networks and user interface. They will work on residential accounts.

I keep with the wireless we have with our router, , , , It works

And all you had to do is ask the tech to split the networks for you and maybe throw in 20$
