CBS just released their first look extended trailer for 'SuperGirl', and it's ruffling some feathers. Here's why I'm not going to jump on that bandwagon just yet...

Dark and gritty is a nice place to visit for a movie, but you don't want to live there, or allow it into you living room on a weekly basis. This Kara is sort of like the one from the 80's movie. A really likable, approachable character as Kara should be, not arrogant or a feminazi wannabe. This looks a lot better than the TV attempt with Wonder Woman in 2011, which was really a bad take on the character.

you got a great voice and you actually made rethink my initial points about this as i was just reacting to what i saw not thinking about it.

That was a very clever reaction! You made several good points about the current state of comic book live shows.

I honestly think that the trailer was too cheesy for my tastes, it featured elements of romantic comedies and not the good ones.

The flash trailer was also kind of cheesy but I ended up liking the show. The pilot leaking way before release date also made things easier as I could see where the show was going and what would be the overall tone. Which I agreed with because it balances cheesy fun with grittier moments. Supergirl looks like it's going 100% cheese and girly and I doubt that I'll be sticking around for more than two episodes if that's actually the case.

I think it looks fun. I'll definitely be watching this instead of Gotham which is on at the same time.

I'm sorry, but growing up with TV I know not to put all my hopes on the first season of a super hero show. I still remember the first Flash on NBC or was it CBS. Anyways, I can't imagine CBS will keep this one going.

It gives off a Lois and Clark feel, so am I to believe it's going to be one of those relationships between two characters for like 2 seasons. Ah! Too bad it's not like Supergirl was forced into another world to survive and try to get home. I don't know. In all honesty I didn't know Supergirl was getting a TV show. Yikes, Powergirl May stop by.

I wasn't even aware there was a supergirl tv series. I looked at the trailer. it is possible that they intentionally starting with the character as being goofy in order to have room for them to grow, I'll adopted wait n c attitude

In all honesty I'm looking forward to this more than the superman movie or suicide squad.

Super Girl isn't a very diverse character anyway. You're giving her or hoping for some complex, meaningful and profoundness .I honestly think her character is always portrayed in a more supportive role or complimentary to that of other super heroes  than one that has enough to build out as a main character. Sorry but she's a corn ball and goofy and her SuperGirl alter ego is reminiscent to that of a weekend warrior. Like a 9-5'er who's a crime fighter on the side...not the other way around. Not convinced that she's a strong enough character to portray on any screen. Not looking for her to be some brooding cerebral vigilante...But on the other hand not interested in seeing some hopeless romantic super hero soap opera either.

I really didn't like the trailer. It came off very cheesey. But. I will give it a chance. However. I knew, I just knew - that the scenes of her flying where the camera is right in front of her face would look really really bad.

I get what you're saying about them needing another more light and to the point good guy(or girl) superhero show. And I know how bad broadcast TV networks can handle shows such as this, but, as long as they play to the strengths of what they have to work with for this character and show, it could turn out alright.

I did give up on Arrow a couple weeks ago because I think the writing and character direction is too inconsistent and frustrating. I will give up on any show fast if they keep doing things that make no sense.

As much as DC could use a brighter theme start off I can't believe that they are gonna succeed. Absolutely all of their stuff that's been bright and funny has been stamped off as bullsh**. I myself loved man of steel and the seriousness that adaptation brings to this (on the edge of) overused franchise. I loved the dark night trilogy. On the other hand I hated flash and arrow. And what surprised me was that green lantern is stamped of as pure bullsh** as it tried to follow marvels success, in being bright and funny.

I really hope they stop trying to make Superman dark and edgy. That REALLY not how that character should be portrayed.

Batman should be an anti-hero. His best portrayal was Frank Miller's run.

Superman is NOT like that. He never was. He has his own angst, but his own personality is very hero-like.

I saw the trailer and it wasn't bad. It made me curious enough to want to tune in. It was kind of light-hearted but I will forgive it an episode or two to see what tone it finally settles into.

I've seen the Flash series and while, initially at least, I enjoyed it, I did stop watching. The cast was too young for me to believe they had accomplished all of these things that make them great. The majority looked like they should still be in college, not having had these years of experiences that put them in the positions when the story started. And their concerns weren't "grown-up" enough for me. Yes, saving the city time after time I would think would tend to give the characters a more mature perspective. At least the last season, so much of it was boyfriend/girlfriend high school/college stuff. I was like, c'mon, really?

It doesn't have to be gloom and doom dark, but at least be mature/grown-up.

Lets see - DC movies after TDK were Watchmen(completely comic book accurate), Green Lantern(light hearted), TDKR(last movie of the trilogy, a Batman film, obviously dark), and then MoS(darker than expected), so what's with the whining and bitching when its only one movie that was darker than it was supposed to be? Also, Superman wasn't totally devoid of happiness, and his goofiness wasn't shown much because he joined the Daily planet at the end. Its realism such as this that tells the audience there's a real threat(Zod) out there, unlike in a lot of movies where you *know* everyone's gonna be okay by the end, and will live happily ever after.
