Oh Punisher has PTSD. Just not from war.

His Lawyers: "I've come to save you."
Punisher: "No."

I like this for several reasons. It doesn't stigmatize vets with PTSD as violent monsters and as a vet with PTSD I put off getting help because I felt like other guys had seen more and I didn't deserve the help.

It's a good scene.

Edit: For those of you who were worried, I did end up getting help after about 10 years and I'm doing worlds better.

Someone analyzed the Punisher from a psyche standpoint: he's not insane. he doesn't suffer from any known psychotic episodes. Dude is absolutely in control.

jon bernthal didn’t have to act very hard there. he’s a huge advocate in real life for mental health. best live action punisher

I like how it's not so much that Punisher doesn't believe he has PTSD, he doesn't want to callously exploit it.

A side note, this show as well as punisher display ptsd in a very real way.

This is beautiful because it is unquestionable that he has PTSD but he has created such a strong delusion about it and a strong perception as well as very strict rules about how we have to act that the P TSD although it affects him it doesn't prevent him from doing what he needs to do and in fact he is able to convince himself that it is not P TSD

He's got a point. If he's labeled as a PTSD victim, it makes ALL victims of PTSD look worse.

Very noble and honourable of The Punisher to defend people struggling with PTSD by denying this defence stragergy. A cowardly person would use this excuse, but not Castle. As far as Frank is concerned, he is a monster that hunts down complete low lives, and he is proud of it. End of.

Karen: "ok so, PTSD."
Punisher: " I'm going to stop you right there."

As a veteran with PTSD, I didn't understand why my family never talked about their deployments until I went through one...

As someone who has seen, known, and worked with a lot of battlefield PTSD afflicted people and how genuinely fucked up it is, it makes me so fucking happy to see a scene that actively calls out how vets problems are used to justify horrible people who did horrible things because PTSD is easier for people to accept than the fact that some people are just broken which just puts a stigma on the good vets the good people who have to curl up in a ball in the basement with noise canceling headphones every fourth of july to keep themselves from having a panic attack

He's definitely not a psychopath as people claim, he's extremely empathetic and selfless.

Frank caring more about people that ACTUALLY suffer from PTSD.
He doesn't want to lie because he knows what that trauma does to good people

When he said “people who are actually going through it” you can literally see that he loves the soldiers and what we have all sacrificed. He’s one of my favorite actors.

The coolest thing is that people did not understand that he did not plead PTSD as his defense because that was not the reason he did it. He did it because he chose to, not because he was crazy or mentally unstable. He was at war. He had his targets. And he would not stop. I appreciate that more since I saw him as more of a madman at the start.

Mad respect for him to recognize PTSD as a real issue, Bigger respect for him not making it his shield.
