Heterochromia is a fascinating condition characterized by a difference in coloration of the iris, the colored part of the eye. This variance results in one eye having a distinct hue from the other or even within the same eye, where sections of different colors are present. Heterochromia can manifest in various forms, such as complete heterochromia, where each eye has a completely different color, or sectoral heterochromia, where only portions of one or both irises display a different color. This phenomenon can be congenital, occurring from birth due to genetic factors, or acquired later in life due to injury, disease, or certain medications. While heterochromia is typically benign and does not affect vision, it can be a visually striking trait, adding to the uniqueness of an individual's appearance.

I dated a guy who had one green eye, and the other was part blue and part amber. He said he was made fun of his entire childhood and into adulthood. He started wearing glasses with tint to disguise his eyes, and then he had a green contact made to cover his blue-amber eye. Stupid ignorant people drove him to that. He didn't show me his eyes until almost a year of being together. I thought his eyes were gorgeous.

I have 2 sons with gray eyes, one with hazel color and one with a blue eye and a green eye.and the other has blue eyes ` 5 sons with cool eyes

My youngest son has a green eye and a blue eye. I have green eyes and his Dad has blue. When I would grocery shop sometimes a person admiring my handsome baby would say, “Did you know his eyes are different colors?” LoL, like I didn’t notice when I gave birth to him? I even had one lady ask if I would get it fixed! As if we would find a matching eye ball and pluck that in. Hahaha I told her it didn’t need to be “fixed”. God made him extra special.

I'm surprised central heterochromia wasn't mentioned in this. My father has sectoral and I have central.

I have central heterochromia (it’s where there’s a ring around your pupil which is a different colour to the rest of your iris)

I have green eyes, but I have a ring of brown around my pupil in both eyes. There is a defined line separating the 2 colors (it's not blended out like in some of the clips I saw in your eye color video). I was told that I have central heterochromia.

My uncle has this. You don't notice most of the time but his pics from childhood that my grandmother had on display in black and white make it super obvious.

I also have sectoral heterochromia. My eyes are blue, but my left one has different green-brownish parts around the pupil.

Left eye hazel (I think? Green with brown "veins"), right eye a greyish green.

My brother has one hazel and one brown. My eyes are both hazel and my other brother has both brown eyes. My daughter had about a quarter of her right eye lose some pigment while she was pregnant with my grandson and again the next time she was pregnant with my granddaughter. Her eyes are very dark brown normally. So dark that you can barely see the pupils. The area she lost color in appeared amber so the difference was very striking and could be seen across a room easily. Her OB/GYN had no idea why and basically said if it’s not bothering her don’t worry about it! After the babies were born her eye gradually turned back to its normal color.

Oh, our baby had a brain tumor removed and chemo and radiation. One eye is still baby blue the other is turning darker. I wonder if nerves were damaged?

I have two colleagues with heterochromia. One has completely different eye colour(a blue eye and a green eye), another has sectoral heterochromia (one eye is brown, other is brown with a greenish spot). Both are called witches. They both have 2 kids each, but none of their children inherited mothers' unique eyes.

I have heterochromia. One green, one brown. Am blind in one of my eyes, too and have iris coloboma. Some people think it is cool others think it's weird and freaky and don't like it. Colleagues in Germany thought there was something wrong and I should get it 'fixed' . I was offered a cosmetic contact lens as a child to match the colours and the pupils but I couldn't get on with it. I would just avoid eye contact with people and avoid standing near light windows so people wouldn't notice. I got bullied at school anyway but for other reasons so I worked hard to make sure they didn't see my eyes and that be another reason for picking on me.
