I love the thought of being jailed by lecals, because you try to mesure the length of France.

First it is not degree kelvin, but just kelvin. Also as your video shows at 6:01 the meter was not tied to the speed of the light but to the wavelength of the red light emitted by Krypton. The tying to the speed of light came later in 1983.

I'm surprised at such a low view count. Kinda sad for such a great video.

It’s funny how I so often hear informal units of measurements when the video wants a comparison. “Olympic size swimming pool”, “adult male African elephant”, “football field” and distance around the equator. Sometimes, Johnny Wad’s unit.

I love these videos, surprised you didn’t mention the USA lol

The US customary units are not true Imperial. Volume is the most notable difference. An Imperial gallon is the volume of 10lb of pure water, the US gallon 8lb. Taken further, the US pint is 16fl oz, the Imperial 20oz. In any case, all Imperial and Customary units have been defined by their relationship to Metric since the 1930s and even back to the 1860s in some cases.

UK even has a pre imperial measurement, the stone. 1 stone = 14 lb = 6.35029 kg.

My country went metric about 150 years ago.
We still measure land size in "measures", and distance in "miles" (not the Imperial mile. We have our own mile thankyouverymuch). Only a few decades ago, my grandmother didn't understand the weight of babies unless it was given in marks. Lumber dimensions are still in "thumbs". I will claim butter is still sold in marks.
Old habits die hard.

Americans are going Metric slowly. However the 9 mm has been used in schools for decades.
