How to Check Data Usage on iPhone:
1. Go to Settings, Cellular
2. Write down your Total Usage number
3. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and write down your Date Last Reset date
5. Enter your Date Last Reset as the Start Date
6. Enter Today as the End Date
7. Click "Calculate Duration" to get the Number of Days
8. Divide your Total Usage by the Number of Days to get your Average Use per Day
9. Multiple your Average Use Per Day by 30 to get your Average Data Use Per Month
10. Done!

How To Check Data Usage on Android (Samsung Phones)
1. Go to Settings, Connections, Data Usage, Mobile Data Usage
2. Tap the date range in the top left to check your data usage for historical periods
3. Your historical periods should give you a good idea of about how much data you need per month

It kinda sucks that till this very day, iOS/iPhones don't have a data limit, and warning feature that has been available on android for ages. Not everyone has unlimited data plans, it would be nice if apple could add this feature. Especially if you live in a country where data caps are more common than unlimited data plans like AHEM CANADA'S EXPENSIVE CELL PHONE PLANS.

I found this while trying to figure out a way to find the culprit app for my sons iPhone. Having a summary for each month and app is such a basic and trivial feature and has been on Android since I can remember. Meanwhile, on iPhone the user has to calculate dates and average themselves, and remember to manually reset to even have a guesstimate of how much an app has used. Just wow.

And the tip for IPhone users work only for AT&T and AT&T Prepaid customers, since they are the only ones that have a 30-day period for their plans.

Only four months – April, June, September and November – have 30 days. February never does have 30 days (28 in common years and 29 in leap) and the rest have 31 days. So Verizon, Verizon Prepaid, T-Mobile and T-Mobile Prepaid users on IPhone will not have an accurate reading of how much data they’re using unless they remember to reset their stats every time their plan starts anew.
