Any time a rude costumer gets exactly what they asked for and instantly regrets it, an angel gets it’s wings!

The first story did have a point.

Never interrupt your enemy when they make a mistake.

On the vinegar thing: I had a cousin who went with us to a restaurant. We were chatting while waiting for our food, and he took a glass carafe of a clear liquid, topped up his water glass with it, then took a swig. IMMEDIATELY his eyes bugged out and he swallowed, then burst out coughing like crazy. Sure enough, he had filled his glass (half full at the time) with vinegar, and had taken a swig before his nose could catch its scent. One can be too quick for their senses.

20 years ago I switched banks, because I had moved from Florida to Indiana. I had a guy on the phone and he was like, "You don't have to close your account, we can just transfer you to another branch." And I was like "Sir, you don't have a branch in my area, and I'm not gonna go to Kentucky just to use your bank." He asked for my zipcode just to double check and was like "Huh. You're right. I'll get that account closed for you and send you a check." He was actually very nice and did his best to be helpful.

I would always give credits for people who were rude to me. But it was never what they expected. I worked at a phone company and plans were on average around $60 per line (it got cheaper the more lines you have).

People would call on and demand compensation because their service went out for half a day. If they were rude, I’d go through the math with them:
“Your plan is $60. Divided by 30 days this month is $2 per day. Half a day is $1 worth of service. I added a credit on your account for $1. It will be on your next bill. Anything else I can do for you?”
They would get SUPER quiet and then finally say no and hang up.

If they were nice, we were approved to credit up to $20 as long as the account was in good standing.

Vinegar story: I have a similar story from my home town, which was the capital of the province. There was a restaurant called _The Great Escape_ which opened when I was in my 20s. The restaurant offered a seven-course fixed menu dinner - each night there was a beef or pork option, a chicken or fish option, and a vegetarian option. Those were your only choices, but the food was superb. The restaurant became extremely popular to the point where you had to book three months in advance to get a table. The only problem was they could not get a license to serve alcohol due to liquor board regulations. Nor could you bring your own wine to go with your meal (a practice known as 'corking'.)

One night, the Provincial Attorney General had a reservation in the restaurant. (The Ministry of Attorney General oversaw the Liquor Board.) The Attorney General brought a bottle of expensive wine for his meal. The restaurant owner took great delight in telling the Attorney General he could not 'cork' his wine in their restaurant due to Liquor Board regulations. I do not know if there was a scene happen or not, but the story made it to the city newspaper.

A few months later, the Liquor Board regulations were amended.

1st story: I worked tech support for an ISP for a year. I had so many customers just yell incoherently at me while I was playing solitaire or chess, because it was better to just let them tire themselves out rather than try to interrupt them.
I distinctly remember one call where I would repeatedly wait for a guy to stop to breathe, ask a quick question, and then continue working as he picked up steam again. This guy made up tons of things about me and then insulted those things. After a few questions I realized that all he had to do was restart his cable box. We had a national outage the day before that affected every single customer. And during the evening they solved it with an update and messaged all customers telling them to restart the box to get the update. This guy had refused to do so because as he put it "I already restarted it several times yesterday and it didn't fix anything, so why would it fix it now?"
When I asked him to just trust me and do it he said that if this didn't fix the issue he would sue me. Not the company. Me.
It solved the problem, and the guy was so ashamed he just mumbled "thank you" and hung up.

Booze story. Totally checks out. My step dad was a horrific alcoholic. Completely destroyed his senses. He'd put an insane amount of spice in all his cooking because it was the only thing he could taste.

My bf is currently trying to build my trust back up with curries because it used to be ALL heat no flavour as a kid.

The Chinese vinegar story: after he spit it out I would have gone over and said “something wrong with the “wine” you were demanding?” Like how stupid are you to think a business would hide alcohol from someone who JUST ARRIVED.

Entitled customer: you're too young to know what alcohol is, so stop hiding the alcohol...

Me: wHaT!?

Grown “the customers is always right.” phrase is like beating a dead horse and that horse was beaten so much that it’s a grease spot on the floor

Story 5: You know you are being a sh*tty husband when your wife wants to see you regret your own choices and apologize on your own behalf. Hey, enjoy that mouthful of Chinese vinegar.

Story 1: The full quote is "The customer is always right, in matters of taste." is just that the salesperson shouldn't judge the (bad) taste of the customer...

Two things:

1.) I work for an ISP as a Field Technician, and yes people act like this in person while we're trying to fix their service, and very frequently we have issues caused by Subs tampering with their equipment as well, and as recent as last night I went into a home and the only issue she had was her Modem was unplugged.

2.) I lost my sense of smell due to a botched surgery when I was 7, and have since lost my sense of taste as well, that guy was just an idiot lol.

The first two stories are funny to me. 😂 The blabbering to the wrong department and the CTO not coming to the meeting that he made. Malicious compliance at its finest!

Rate Story: The customer is always right……in terms of taste, not business. You can't use that saying to weasel your way into a special discount.

Good bye Karen

Oh, god, I work in a call center and I can feel that first story SOOOO hard! So many angry ranting callers whose problem could be resolved in 2 minutes if they would stop ranting and let me talk!
