Great video appreciate this video. I have a 55 gall near a window and unfortunately cant move it. I just did this the other day got my long algae scrubber and got in there and scraped it all off. It made the water look a bit dirty for a while but than it cleared up. Fish can also help but it does affect the stocking levels when adding ottos and plecos of sort. The 55 gal is a planted tank along with my 20 long with nano fish in it and a krib as my center piece fish.

I really like the tool MD Fish Tank uses. It’s a telescoping razor blade. The blades are thin and flex which helps with not scratching the glass. I don’t know how these are with acrylic tanks though.

Mr. Clean Magic Erasers work great on both glass and acrylic tanks. Make sure to use the originals. Not the extra durable and not the ones with detergents added.

Why not do like is very common in Salt Water tanks and install a Refugium? It wont stop the need for cleaning but it can help reduce the frequency.

One of my favorite anti-algae methods is Amano Shrimp. They totally destroy any and all hair algae! They saved one of my high tech planted 10 gallons from a black beard algae outbreak.

It's a little off-topic, but I'm doing a fishless cycle, and the ammonia has been stuck at 3ppm for 6 days. My ph is 8.0, water temp is 84 degrees, has 0 nitrites, and 0 nitrates. Oh, and I've used tetra quick start bacteria. Any advice would be helpful.

I have found it largely a seasonal issue in that the longer days of summer and the longer periods of ambient light fuel the algal growth. Tank is not at the window, but there are enough windows.
