The answer is that MX has more expensive (and better) 3D-NAND memory and better controller, so it has 60 month of varranty (BX has 36 month), so if you are looking only for speed, buy bx (it is not significantly slower, as you see in tests). If you are looking for trustiness and you don't want to realise that your SSD died one day with your data - buy MX500, because it has bigger resource.
As a bonus I advice you to check up a price for samsung 860 EVO in your country. If it is not much more expensive than mx500 (or same price), buy it. EVO also has 5 years of varranty but real tests show that it's TBW (TB written) is smth about 2500TB. Ask yourself, would you be able to rewrite 2 500 000 GB on your SSD in even 10 years? Ofc no

Great video! In fact, the capacity of the extra cache memory is 1/1000 of capacity of the SSD. So the cache in MX-500 250Gb is 256Mb, in MX-500 500Gb is 512Mb, in MX-500 1Tb is 1Gb and so on ...

I have used the MX500 in both a Dell Inspiron Laptop and an HP -? 15" i3 Laptop and both increased in speed dramatically. Perhaps 10 times faster. The SSD is worth every penny.

The crucial website does a terrible job explaining the difference between these two lines of SSD if you just look at the pictures it looks like the BX is for laptops but this video shows them side-by-side looks like either one could go on a laptop I have the older M500 240GB from six years ago in my desktop I built has worked great I just want to upgrade it to the 1TB size So I'm getting the MX 500 but was just curious what the BX was looks like it's really not that much of a difference And could go into a desktop.. I'm sure many would say any laptop 2.5 inch SSD could go into a desktop with the right adapter my case came with the proper 2.5 inch side adapters so I am fine.. Going to stick with the MX.. Seems like a bunch of unnecessary confusion and complication for very limited difference and very badly explained on the crucial site but oh well nothings perfect on the Internet

U cant test the speed of an SSD with data on it, the performance degrades the more filled up the drives gets.
