Imagine stockers at Walmart make more than the paramedics that's job is to transport and make sure you stay alive until they reach the hospital. They treated EMS like heros during covid and after it was over, they were forgotten, funny how that works.

So very unfortunate and yet unnecessary. Using the Australian style model for EMS could fix a lot of problems. There EMS, like Police and FD are owned and run by the state not counties/shires. Imagine Idaho Ambulance or Idaho Fire and Rescue. All three are emergency services and get funding from state government budgets, with a fire and emergency services levy boosting the coffers. Ambulance also gets a boost from state lottery and scratch it ticket profits. To top it off, ambulance services are crewed only by full-time university-trained professionals which helps with staffing levels. Residents of a town the size of Kellogg get paramedics with the same training and equipment as big city residents Two Australian states even have user free ambulance for residents. Food for thought.
