Gotta love Tom. Down to earth, everyday guy. Just happens to be a woodworking master too!

Looking forward to part 2. This is my favorite- a project from start to finish!

Very nice dresser I looked thru my books and found one in How to build Shaker Furniture by T Moser with similar dimensions but different construction. Lots of dovetails. Pinned the sliding dovetailed dividers with brads rather than glue to reduce splitting, very interesting.

Just a thought. Many older Korean chests have removable base with legs attached. Makes it easier to move without breaking the legs. The base you describe could be easily not attached to the chest body.

To me, the corner mock up you built lacks the vaulting we see in Shea p192-193. If the bottom corners are 2-3/8 x 2-3/8" as in the drawing the 8" base height makes more sense. To me at least the vaulting of the base legs is about the inside curve not the outside curve. I think the 8" height provides a more Shaker look. This is the same issue I see in the candle table. Not getting the inside curve correct leads to a squat looking table. I live in Boston, MA and would relish the chance to drive up to debate this. Thanks!
