1980 I was booked on a flight from Orlando to Boston in the middle of the week and Three of us got on the plane. There were no stops. Just three of us on a 707. There were more flight attendants than passengers and they invited us to sit up in first class and proceeded to treat us as first class passengers the whole time. Each of us got our own row of seats. Mine had nobody sitting in front of me so I had enough leg room for an NBA player. That might have been the last time a Rib Eye steak was ever served on an airliner too.

In all my years of flying, the one time that happened was pretty memorable. We were in a three seat row. A guy in the aisle seat and me in the middle. When they said the doors were closed, we looked at each other, happily laughed, and I took the window seat. The guy in the aisle to celebrate bought a drink and treated me to one too. Then promptly ignored each other.

I literally hit the jackpot flying from the UK to NZ! On all three flights I got the window seat, someone in the aisle and no one in the middle! It was so nice, especially for such long flights!

I prefer the aisle. That way, I can bolt to the washroom or exit without feeling boxed in😅
