A very important reason for wealthy / well settled Indians to migrate is quality of life. Terrible traffic everywhere, pathetic work life balance, and lack of green open spaces especially for kids. Highly underrated factor which you guys almost totally missed.

I work with a lot of Indian nurses in Australia. I asked the same question, because my friend became a citizen but not her husband. She said India does not allow dual citizenship, so the mother becomes a citizen of their resident countries with their children, and the father keeps his Indian citizenship so that they can keep ownership of property in India.

1. Over-population /over-crowded
2. Pollution
3. Lack of meritocracy thanks to reservation and general mediocrity
4. Lack of work-life balance and corporate slave attitude
5. High tax rate and still no good infrastructure, thanks to corruption
6. Weak Indian Passport - that impacts mobility
I'm in Germany and NRIs are discussing this topic on daily basis.

One of the biggest reasons is that people in india are becoming more rude, arrogant and egoistic towards each other day by day. And I'm not talking about one race against another but in general. I walk out in public places and rarely meet someone genuinely nice, the possibility is almost zero atleast in my generation ( youth ). Better living not only is better environment, better infrastructure its also about good people. If you are surrounded by nice people your health, your work will automatically get better. People in india don't even feel like working because there are too many annoying people even in the work place.

I am Bindu Rao from Bangalore. The main reasons for our Indians to leave India and settle down in a foreign country are…
1). Poor infrastructure in India
2). Common people don’t follow even one small bit of traffic rules or any other basic rule.
3). Cleanliness- far away from our routine
Honesty and sincerity-last choice
4). No one is committed to our country
5). Corruption at all levels.
6). Reservation on basis of caste

After living in China for 6 years, I think what India lacks is pretty much everything when it comes to liveable public spaces

In India, sadly you get nothing in return for the high taxes you pay. That's the single biggest issue.

Honestly probably helpful because it:

- gets rid of fanatical ideologues
- increases remittances
- desensitises people to Indians and Indian culture
- makes other countries closer in culture to India so more international politics in India's favour
- creates an export market for Indian goods
- gives easier people for the government and businesses to try and work with for international operations, due to the shared background

To be honest, this will only continue to increase. As an Indian who is currently abroad, I can understand why people are doing this after they've settled into their new nations after studies/Work/etc.
There are so many reasons as to why, these are a few:
1) Good quality of life abroad: These include good work life balance, clean spaces, very manageable traffic, etc.
2) Less Corruption: The Indian bureaucracy is highly corrupt at every level and dealing with administrative tasks can be an absolute pain leading to offering bribes everywhere to get things done.
3) A better sense of respect directed towards other people as well as civil rules put in place which ensure the smooth running of society in general.
4) High Trust: People are generally honest and rely on trust to get work done. This is not something that I've seen in India. We can't trust anyone completely and fear that they may stab us in the back when the time comes. This may often lead to micro-management.
5) Equal opportunity: There is no caste/reservation system. Everyone gets equal opportunity to get what they want (no discrimination against your caste/religion/beliefs/etc).
6) Population: Because there is way less population, everything is more manageable (the lesser people you have it becomes easier to manage a nation - lesser infrastructure required, can focus on quality rather than quantity in general in all aspects)
7) Lack of Open & Clean spaces to spend time with friends/family. Being overcrowded means that there are very few green/open spaces.
8) A better focus given towards pursuing your extra curricular activities. In India, for most people our only choice is an engineer, doctor Or a Lawyer (I know its a stereotype but it holds true very well from a global, nation-wide perspective. We also work longer hours and can be expected very frequently to work on the weekends depending the type of job you have). This also a good Segway to say that all types of work are respected. People don't look down on you if you don't have a high flying/high paying job. Here, Work is truly Worship.
9) Healthcare: This is a big one. At least in Europe (where I am) healthcare is FREE! Social security covers everything. I don't need shell out a crap ton of money to get my health problems fixed.

I Love my country and personally, I may not change my citizenship but I can understand why people are doing this.

I was reading few comments. Grass is always greener on other side. I have lived in the USA for 12 years and currently in the UK for 2 years. I understand the challenges India got, but even outside India there are 100s of challenges which people living outside can relate:

1. There is constant sense of detachment once the initial few years honeymoon time is over. Initially you feel "wow this country is great, but you come back to realisation."
2. Social circle remains limited specially with family. Family events are rare.
3. Less culture and food. You try to be wanna be and get involved more with "white people" but they keep limited relationship with you.
4. You struggle with mental and emotional stress.
5. You keep working all the time non-stop. After work, you struggle with your chores.
6. You always feel of going back to India and you miss all that chaos.

As I told grass is always greener on other side. It happens either if you are in India or in some western world.

Edit: Few judgementals asked when I plan to come back to India. I infact did it in 2020. Left USA and moved back but got admitted to ICU during delta wave and we had 8 months old kid. Wife saw me dying in the hospital and we decided to move out again considering that wasn't the right time for us. Let's not judge others without knowing someone's condition.

I went to india with my mom who by the way has never smoked or experience breathing issues. 2 days in jaipur and she was ILL. She struggled SO much with the pollution that it almost debilitated her. So, that would be a good reason + the cleanliness

1. Reservation
2. Absurd taxes for wealthy individuals
3. No quality high education (The best IIT barely manges to make it to top 500 universities globally)
4. Lack of security against peaceful crimes
5. Lack of pride in Indian brands

Some year ago a former New Zealand Prime Minister, Robert Muldoon, was asked to comment on the large number of Kiwis leaving for Australia. He replied that it did not bother him as it improved the intelligence level in both countries.

Population is one of the biggest factors. Flights, tourist places, 5 star hotels, everything is crowded in india. In USA, countryside is sparsly populated

When I was in 2012 they said 2025 will be the golden year of India Indian will become a developed nation with high standards of living, now the number has shifted to 2031, I don’t think this will happen any time soon in next few decades.

All my 3 children are outside India. I often request them to return as I'm 70+. The main reasons are many like 1) work life balance 2) worst roads 3) no floor paths 4) no parking 5) corruption 6) no traffic sense 6) garbage and filth everywhere 7) pollution 8) caste politics 9) huge noise pollution 10) lack of opportunity to raise in profession. Hope Pakli will also take up these issues brought up by viewers

Main factors that you are hesitant to call out. Caste politics, reservation in all aspects of life, poor state of medical, police and justice system. No govt support for child care and social security and ridiculous education cost even from birth. Pollution and traffic takes the life out of you.
