In today's video, I give my thoughts on Budget Vs Expensive Guitar effects pedals.

Be sure to check out JHS pedals video on Behringer effects pedals, I was amazed to learn they're basically boss pedals inside.

I only have a Reverb and a Distortion Pedal . Never thought of needing more but there are some cool ones out there. Great video man 👍

I've been following Josh from JHS for over a year now. He really knows his stuff and is super knowledgable. I love his history lessons about pedals and the companies.
I just got my first Behringer pedal about a month ago. A used Rotary Machine thats been discontinued. It's a clone of a more expensive Line 6 rotary pedal. I'm very impressed with it all around. Sound and build quality. I knew they are plastic so I thought it would be light as a feather. I thought their was a battery left inside but nothing. I compared it to the weight of my Boss ce2 and couldn't tell the difference. I'll definitely be getting some more Behringers.

I like boss too but round here they start at $145 usually (or more) n the behringer at $35-$35 so you can guess which I've got more of. I wouldn't mind trying JHS cause they seem pretty good but they're just outside my budget. Some of my guitars I've got cost less then some of the pedals I've seen around.

Thanks for the tip about not spending over £50 for a pedal, very useful I’ll keep it in mind. Also I like the t-shirt 😎 its CLASS 🎸✌️😎😎

Only pedal im using atm is tc electronic afterglow chorus. I highly recommend their cheap line that includes that afterglow. They are armored like tank, have great pots and sound awesome. They cost something between 30-50£, so maybe You could try one by yourself.

What amp do use with your pedals Rob? I’m purely a hobbyist and play at home with a Boss Katana 50, but i’m considering going valve now. I’ve only been playing a couple of years now consistently and knowing what rig to use has been a much bigger challenge than i expected 😂

You can still get a boss sd1 on the cheap yet. Great thing is that they are made the exact same way as when they were first made. Boss sd1 with a Marshall one of the best combos ever.

Behringer are literally straight up copies of all the famous pedals and if you want medal casing checkout the budget tc electronic pedals. They're behringer pedals in metal casings with a different label. I agree never spend more than 50 bucks on a pedal. Personally, i just buy used boss pedals or new behringer pedals. I like those old danelectro pedals too. None of these really sound much different from each other anyhow.

Hi ya Rob! If you’re looking for the DS2 clone of Behringer’s you may struggle, as they are rare these days, I think they stopped making them. They interestingly can sound like a DS1, DS2 and RAT distortion. It’s called the DM100.

Myself I use a Mooer Black Secret, RAT clone. RATs are stupidly expensive and this clone can be used like a RAT 2 and a Turbo RAT and it sounds bang on to me. £30 including adaptor and daisy chain.

The Meat Manifesto 😂 great vid man! I use boss pedals almost exclusively. Fun fact, Prince used mostly Boss pedals in his live pedal board.

I remember when i started playing almost 30 years ago, first seeing the pedal displays in Sam Ash and other local places around me, (Sater's, Philly Music Co, The Music Place, etc etc ), the Boss pedals weren't the most expensive, but not super cheap(Mid range).. the DS-1 was always 30 bucks brand new, the Super Chorus was my first Chorus type pedal for 50 bucks... the Dunlop Crybaby Wah pedal was 60 bucks, but the Rotovibe was 100 bucks brand new. I remember using Ibanez Soundtank pedals that were average 25-40 bucks a piece.. not as sturdy as Boss, but the Slam Punk and the Powerlead were incredible for the price. the DOD pedals were sturdier but horrible sounding.. the Grunge FX69 brand new was 65 bucks, but the DS-1 sounded better... go figure... Now with the antique time frame having past for these materials, its insane to see what they go for, especially things that were considered budget, low grade, and pawnshop junkers are not considered the original boutiques... its very weird.

The new Fender range of pedals seem great, but I don't have that kind of money :( Boss pedals are great and will do for me, just need to buy a pedalboard and supplies now. Great video yet again :)
