there are light weight conditioner meant to increase volume I guess that type of conditioner is meant for fine hair type, it gives you that airy vibes, the reason why fine hair weighs down when conditioned is because aside from softening, the conditioner is thick, heavy weight meant for coarse hair, because hair is too stubborn it fights and resist, and that type of conditioner weighs down that stubborn hair and also softens it.

Edited: I have coarse straight/slightly wavy thick Asian hair and my mistake was I used to use lightweight conditioner becasue I like the feeling that it is not greasy, it feels clean but it turns out it gives me extra poofiness(volume) plus it looks so dry and it's hot and humid here it really messes up my hair.

Few things to consider when looking at this problem and I'm just speaking for myself. I was one of those who felt conditioner weighed my hair down and never ever used it but at the same time I was shampooing my hair everyday while using off the counter shampoo. That all changed about a year and a half ago when I started using proper, alcohol, paraben, sulfate, SLS, SLES FREE shampoo and the conditioner from the same brand. Initially I felt the conditioner was reducing the potential volume I could be getting and had it sitting in my shower for almost a year while using it very sparingly until one day I decided to start using it everyday. I also use the 25 mentioned in the video or Argan oil (not at the same time, switch between them), and what the 25 does is it makes your hair more manageable, adds volume but I have to use a blow dryer in order to unlock the full product potential.
I shampoo and let it sit for about a min in my hair, condition and let that sit for 2mins, towel dry, 25 or argan oil and blow dry for 3-4mins TOPS and plenty of volume and I finish with usually a clay and everything is good.
What changed from of shampoo and conditioner, what products I use and how I styled my hair because if I just shampooed and conditioned my hair and called it a day then I wouldn't be getting the look I'm getting now with or without a conditioner.

Question: Bit random I guess but what I've always noticed on people is that for some peoples sides, the hair may grow straight down, or diagonally down or maybe forward. Although I think this is just the general growth pattern which cannot be changed, I'm asking in case I'm wrong and can be permanently changed as I do know when it's longer it can be slicked but it really fights it. For me, one side grows down and the other diagonally down which can just look a little off.

I don't like conditioner. If you have processed or damaged hair then it is ok if you feel you need it.

I’m one of those people that conditioner makes my hair too soft. It just gets glossy and weighed down.

Honestly my hair feels 1000% better after I stopped using conditioner and I have super dry coily afro textured hair!

The biggest issue I found I needed to focus on was HARD TAPWATER. The hard water plus chemicals added to the water supply is what creates the need for conditioner. Chelating shampoo is good for one wash but very harsh. Additionally, conditioners work better in humid climates. In dry climates they harden on the hair leaving it feeling rough, brittle, and dry after a while. Try leaving a dollup of conditioner out on a plate when the humidity is low and watch it harden. Also why some don't do well with coconut oil left in the hair. It hardens like a rock in cooler dryer climates but in hot and humid it stays soft. Whenever someone says it works wonders for them I always ask where do they live.

Anyway, I have since found a product that eliminates the need for conditioner called MyWater. No this is not an advertisement. I only found it because someone mentioned it in a review for a hair dryer on Amazon. Shampoo and just spray this water in as your leave in and it seriously neutralizes all of the residue from the water and the shampoo but in a non harsh way. My hair has never been so soft and silky (I blow dried and flat ironed too)! Tried it on my son and daughter's hair and same thing, super soft soft hair even a week after washing.

These companies are getting over on us selling us all of these extra things that we "need" after shampooing. My hair is was dry, is not fine, and very textured and I finally learned that i do not need conditioner and i used to be an absolute hair mask/conditioner junky!

My hair is usually thin and weighed down. I have always bought high quality + organic (as possible) shampoo and conditioner from the hair dressers. However, in the last 12 months, I have stopped washing my hair with conditioner. My hair has so much more volume and richness. I was concerned that maybe the ends wouldn't be 'nourished', however, I have had no problem! This is the first time in a long time that I truly am enjoying my hair.

Is there anyone else out there that doesn't condition and finding it is improving the quality of the hair?

Whenever I use conditioner in warm or hot water, my hair gets very course and dry. I’m trying to figure out why, cause I got short hair.

What should if i have very low porosity hair. Cause everytime i get out of the shower throughout the day my hair doesn’t really dry. It stays looking dark and damp and i have blonde hair so that’s annoying.

One thing I've noticed since I cut my hair, when my hair was longer, around 8-10 inches, conditioner helped give my hair volume and fluff it up, while now that it's shorter probably more 6-8 inches, it actually gives it less volume and makes it lay down flat on my head, why is that?
