As a 11 year animal expert in exotics- a lot of times exotics will improve for up to days before kicking the bucket. We dont know exactly why- but humans in hospice will do it as well.

HOWEVER- IF anyone can save mr chunkyface, its lukes goldies. Good on him for loving his fish and not euthanizing at the first sight of trouble like some owners do.
