I once had a catshark that would just lie on its side after it had gotten copper poisoning from neglect from it's previous owners. If he did swim he swam in circles. But had a great appetite though. I ended up feeding by hand as well. And over the course of a month I'd have colleagues approach me saying there was a dead shark. Only for me to check and see the poor thing in the same state. After month and a half he finally made a great recovery and started swimming normally again and eating normal aswell! It was a true victory for not giving up on him

Thank you for being real about it. I grew up on a horse farm and I still work with retired horses. Everyone here is 25 years or older. Sometimes you just have to make that decision. As humans our greatest gift we can give to a suffering animal is a chance at life, and also the freedom of death. Thanks for being a responsible pet owner

When my fish had those problems with swim bladder I fed it chopped up garden worms it helped them sort it out took a week or two but they swam properly.

I have created such a device. 5 actually. Each one has been improved upon.
I started it when i got a couple pet fish with the same problem as yours. And the slime coating rubbing off was my biggest hurdle. The only ways i have gotten past it has been.
1. Make sure to not keep the fish in the device 24/7, give them X amount of time outside of the device.
2. Use materials that cannot absorb the slime.
3. Before the device is attached make sure there is a slick barrier between the device and fish. I used a very very very thin layer of vaseline. It may sound weird. But vaseline repels water, and dosnt harm the fish. And it also helps keep the slime from rubbing off so it keeps a barrier of slime between the vaseline and fishes skin.
I the 2 fish i have that first had the swim bladder problem. 1 of them has died due to stress from my tank breaking. The other has been using my device for a year. And she is doing perfectly fine.
I have adopted other fish that have had swim bladder problems. To see if i could make a device and improve upon it to help them. And i think i have found the correct non toxic materials, and found the best way to keep the slime barrier that i have thought of.
I have had 6 fish in total that have had swim bladder problems. 1 of those fish has passed. The other 5 are doing amazing. The oldest one i have is 1 year old.
And with the way i make my device, its able to be adjusted for when the fish gets bigger.
If your open to it i can make a device and send it to you. And you can use it for a while and if you like it, then maybe you can give me a shout out to help my cause.
My cause is helping pets and pet owners by making devices to help pets that are handicapped in some way. I have made wheel chairs for dogs, cats and even a few turtles that have lost their legs.
My device uses materials that are different from what you have seen on the internet (the viral ones.)
And you cant just put the fish in and leave it. You do have to take the fish out of the device, let it have some time apart from it, clean it, reapply the vaseline etc.
its the same with humans who lose a arm or leg. We cannot wear a prosthetic 24/7 without it causing rashes and rubbing our skin raw.
But if you want i can make another device and you can try it out. And maybe i can get enough business where i can start my own comoany where i can provide AFFORDABLE medical devices for pets.
Also, a lot of the floatation devices you see that have went viral are bulky devices. And i pride myself on the fact that the device i have created is slimmer, more mobile, weighs less, can be adjusted depending on the fishes growth and dosnt hinder their ability to swim.
I have tried making go fund me’s and tried to find people who would want to donate to help me with my cause. But it never really gets traction sadly.
Id love nothing more than to be able to help pets and pet owners full time. But i just cant do that if it cant be atleast profitable enough where i can live off of and also help people and their pets.
And whats awesome about my devices is. When someone wants one, i will ask various questions. And the pet owner can pick different colors i have available to be used for their pets device. And i always use the best quality i can. I dont cut corners and use lesser quality materials just bc they are cheaper. Bc this is someones pet. Their pride and joy. And i want whatever device to last as long as possible and always be 100% reliable.
And i dont even charge shelters. If a shelter gets a dog or car in that cannot move its back legs or is handicapped in some way, i dont charge that shelter for the device. Only shipping if they arent local.
But its so very very hard to get into this industry. Because all these other giant companies have the word of mouth, and have the ability to have their products pushed.
This isnt a dream i have ever planned to “get rich off of.” Honestly, if i could get the business where i can make the devices and it pays my bills thats good enough for me. And if i ever do hit it big, that would just mean i can donate and do more for the shelters that i do as much as i can for now.
Yes. If love for the company to prosper and make oodles of money. Because that just means i can help so many more pets and pet owners.

I am writing a blog on fish and man, i must say! Its a big responsibility if you want to have them as a pet... either have them if you know you can provide a good life and care to them, or you can just choose another pet for yourself, but that doesn't mean you can neglect them. Either cate for all the pets or just don't have them 😊
