My 2024 Kia Sportage Hybrid makes a very weird noise. It’s coming from the engine when I accelerate. I hate to say it, but the noise is a deal-breaker. It’s SO ANNOYING.

Our Kia just started this noise this week. Only has 8000 miles on 2024 Kia Sportage hybrid.

Mine does the same. Kia told me it's normal. No it's not. Also mine now has knock in the front end when I brake. I'm wondering if it's the sway bar. But still have no clue what that rattle/ticking sound is with acceleration.

Cant really hear it in the video but mine makes a nasty sound ( a ticking like a worn out valve train ) but only for a second before shifting into second and third gear, is this what youre experiencing?

We bought one a few weeks ago, it makes a noise at very low or p.m., and stops right when it shifts into second gear. Typically when accelerating from a stop you can hear it from the engine, then when it shift it stops.

Looks like the AC compressor is making that noise. My went out of service few days ago. Now Im waiting for the service and I don’t have ac in my car. Kia sportage 2023 hybrid ex 14900 miles

I do hear it. Although i dont think it translated well on the camera audio vs what you hear in person since there is other ambient noise outside and going on in the cabin like you stated in text at the beginning.
That is kinda weird. I wonder what is it about the engine design that is causing that.
I was really considering this model. Ill probably still take one out for a test drive and see what happens.

Did you ever find out what the issue was?

It might go away after the break in mileage. Great video and hope it gets fixed.

I had one in the UK that got so bad i swapped the car for an EV.. I have the same car and a worse noise ( but exactly the same) here in the USA. I'm an enginner and have built all sorts of cars and race vehicle. Both cars sounded like a bad top end rattle and yes you can make it do it by just holding the throttle in a position where there is a transfer of load to the transmission. It also happens as the transmission chooses to shift.. like it unloads the engine for a second before it shifts. ( use the paddles and you will not get it although the programing on the paddle shift is also abysmal). I love the car BUT it will have to go as Kia USA ( in Jacksonville Florida) are fecking hopeless, The service adviser is a child with zero brains.... tells me ( with some 58 years of engineering experience) that. it is NORMAL.. sweeet heart, normal is a setting on a washing machine, Metal on metal rattles are NOT normal.. give these engines 50K miles and there will be your answer.. I wont be owning it at that point

Mine does the same thing, figured I’d was a fuel injector, pump/solenoid.

Hello man, could you tell me what happened with your truck? I plan to buy this same SUV tomorrow but I would like to know how your experience ended, and if you recommend it? thank you! I am from Colombia

Oh hell ya I hear that, definitely when you push down the accelerator. It would drive me crazy. Is it a bad engine?

I won't buy Kia or Hyundai because of the horror stories I hear and the dealership experience is bad (especially in my area)

So it only happening when you give it gas but not when coasting, with the foot off the gas? All signs do seem to point to a fuel delivery issue such as the fuel pump. Perhaps there's air getting in the fuel line from a pin hole or something or a bad seal. Similar to drinking from a straw and it has a hole in it? So it may not leak fuel, but somehow can suck air into the line when you give it gas. Should be an easy diagnostic and fix by any mechanic who's worth their given credentials/certifications. I'd take it to another dealership.

If you heard that sound on a airplane youd be afraid for your life. Would be very upset to hear that on my new car that im paying 30k+ for. Sounds almost like when a branch or debris get stuck and dragged along the undercarriage.
