In this tutorial we'll build together a custom shader node that adds time capabilities that are found inside the Noise node. You can now animate and evolve any shader property without keyframes! Requires minimal OSL Shader programming.

Man this is fantastic. Makes me wonder how many other useful tools can be made with OSL to fill gaps that are still missing with RS nodes. This reminds me a little of being able to use wrangles / VEX in Houdini.

This is very useful and has completely perked my interest in OSL for C4D. Great tut - keep em coming!

Neat node setup, thanks for sharing :)

That was easy, thanks a lot. OLS seems to be pretty straight forward and handy. In 2025, I have to manually update RS though, to see the change.

Super helpfull channel, thanks so much!
I've been wondering for a while if it's possible to loop a gradient ramp on a surface so it looks like it's offsetting on the x or y. I've managed to get something working using a vertex color and a linear field based on one of 0626 techniques. If possible it would be much cleaner to have it directly inside a shader. Any ideas?
