What are the differences, which is the better program find out about these video editors, before you buy them. One of them may be canceled.

I largely agree with you. The user interface of Vegas can be fiddly, especially when working with effects. But the timeline has some niceties which I wish pro x had too. E.g the ability to move the edge of just the sound clip without having to un-group it first from the video. Also I think that the way effects are implemented in Vegas is more consistent and complete. You can apply them on all levels, media, object, track and film, chain them, and all parameters support key frames. I'm a software engineer myself and I suspect that the underlying engine of pro x is a hotch-pot of various code designs grown to an intricate mess which is very hard to keep stable. Or at least I conclude so from the various bugs I have seen and the somewhat inconsistent way effects are designed. I suspect the underlying engine of Vegas is much cleaner and therefore easier to maintain and less prone to bugs. The engine of Vegas with some UI design from pro x would probably be ideal.

Master Hughes, your thoughts on Vegas Pro 15 in the context of your discussion/face-off?

Your issue, like you stated is that you are unfamiliar with Vegas. I have been cutting on most video editors since the Amiga Toaster, and have been cutting broadcast video on Sony Vegas for 6 years. Vegas is fast and easy once you grasp the workflow, and the Vegas UI look does not tire the eyes. (It's just like reading the newspaper.) I will agree with you and hope Magix will merge the two with the best of both, keep the pricing down, and ADD the GPU/CPU rendering option which was removed after Sony Vegas 12.
