McGill University is an English-language public research university located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Founded in 1821 by royal charter granted by King George IV,[10] the university bears the name of James McGill.

McGill has been named Canada's best university, according to the 19th edition of the QS World University Rankings, released today by global higher education analysts QS Quacquarelli Symonds. The University was ranked 31st university in the world.

McGill offers degrees and diplomas in over 300 fields of study, with the highest average entering grades of any Canadian university.[13][14] Most students are enrolled in the six largest faculties, namely Arts, Science, Medicine, Education, Engineering, and Management.

While an 85% average is a requirement, the average entering grade at McGill is over 92% making it very competitive to apply. There are also seats reserved for students from Quebec, making the admissions process highly competitive at McGill.
