6 months building cabin in the woods, off grid house start to finish

It's time to publish the complete construction of my cabin in the woods. The cabin has a stove, which means you can keep warm in any weather. The cabin has a bed and a table, which means there is a place to sit and sleep, there is a table for eating and cooking. All this I consider the basis for a comfortable stay in this forest cabin, and all the rest is small refinements and improvements, which I will do gradually. There were a total of 25 working days. If you count the days when I didn't work, it was 6 months. I started building the cabin in the last days of spring. Note that before that, I had never built before and had no idea if it would work out or not. It was a good start.

00:00 building the foundation/floor
02:22 the frame of the cabin
08:38 the roof on the cabin
12:22 fasten the windproofing to the frame and cover with boards
19:48 cabin painting
21:31 assembling the upper (small) window
24:28 seal the corners of the cabin
26:39 making and installing windows
32:26 make and install doors
35:07 first night in the cabin
40:19 keep working
42:14 forest cabin insulation
43:05 install a vapor barrier
43:27 interior wall finish
44:56 decided to finish the front window (installed the casings)
45:18 continued with the interior
46:32 lunch time
50:56 making a terrace
59:25 putting a lock on the door
01:00:39 furnace installation
01:06:38 making a bed out of boards
01:11:21 making a nice table out of boards
01:16:59 I'm finishing the windows, making the curtain rods, hanging the curtains

As my Dad would say “I’m not allergic to work…I can sit & watch it all day”. lol….anyway, I would love to be right there helping. Growing up I was always helping my Dad with everything…he was a very wise man & I learned so much from him. He taught me when you do something give it 100+%. I love your cabin!!! Now all you need is a outhouse!!

I am a 61 yr old lady, single, never married, watching this, and I have an Uncle who lives in Alaska who is an architect. He is 81 now. My Dad is 83. My Uncle designs all kinds of buildings and has won awards. I guess it runs in the blood that I love watching people create. I am also very creative, but not in the way YOU are. I did build a club house when I was 12 with my siblings from cast off wood from a construction site. The workers gave us all sorts of stuff! It was fun. Watching you build your cabin has been both educational and very enjoyable. I love watching young people do this sort of thing. Live off the land, and use their skills to be self reliant. It amazes me all the skill sets needed to do these things. Math--different abilities with math, such algebra, geometry and trig--which you probably do not even realize you are using. Engineering skills, wood working skills. Then basic survival skills. Farming skills to grow your garden. Just amazes me.

Thanks for documenting your journey, yet another skill set, to film, edit and put together this video. Very smart. You are obviously very smart--well educated, I do not necessarily mean book smart--could be--you are just educated in the ways that you could teach others how to survive and build and be independant too. YOU have lots to share with others. YOU will be successful in all that you do. thanks for sharing! God bless!!

This is one of the rare videos on YouTube that I watched without skipping even a single second; you truly are a master at this, my friend.

Wait I can’t believe this isn’t tagged #ASMR I literally fell asleep with my newborn. He was also so incredibly soothed by the noises it was a beautiful experience to bond with my boy while getting the intense satisfaction of watching an American build his own home as the original settlers did! I am so impressed that you did all of this in solitude without causing it to sound like a construction site! Beautiful work! Enjoy your slice of heaven!!!!

I am gobsmacked at your skills in building this cabin. From tools you used to the installation of doors, windows, heater, then making furniture, absolutely riveting. I was so disappointed when it ended 🥲I could have sat through the night watching you build! I think I was waiting for the bench outside on the porch. Thank you so much for sharing. I absolutely loved it. Happy 2024 🎉

It’s refreshing to see that there are still men in this world. I would bet that he’s a military veteran by the way he carries himself.

Dude, this cabin in the woods is truly, incredibly cool! To go from nothing to a home with furniture that you built with your own hands must make you SOOO proud of your accomplishments. I thoroughly enjoyed watching you, and appreciate that you recorded it for us all to watch. I wish you all the best in everything you do. Blessings! 🌳🌞🕊❤✨🌲

Beautiful job a labor of love and all with hand tools..No noisy generator or power tools. No wonder they all got together for a barn raising. Really a labor of love.

Very clear that we have a craftsman here with loads of commercial experience. Notice the importance he places in his movement, always calculating the energy required to push each task through to completion, with emphasis given to getting it right the first time. Not in a rush, but further ahead being the result. This presentation is worth regarding in its entirety.

Это самая добротная, самая аккуратная, самая теплая избушка, какие только видела при строительстве в лесу. Все точно подогнано, продумано, заранее подготовлено и аккуратно установлено. Браво !
